Callista Clark ft Jimmie Allen – Wish You Wouldn’t – Single Review

Callista Clark has one of the best voices to emerge from country music for a while. Not a typically traditional country twang to her vocals, Clark like Maren Morris, has a strong R&B tone to her voice which is simply stunning bringing a wonderfully new twist to country music.

At only 19 years old, she has a powerfully mature and flawless sound. With a voice like Clarks, she can easily release music in almost any genre. Clark is like country musics answer to JoJo.

Wish You Wouldn’t, originally released on her Real to Me album as a solo project was recently released as a single with Jimmie Allen as part of her Real to Me Album Deluxe version.

Teaming up with Allen was a great move. Jimmie, a fellow country artist and an emerging superstar in his own right is the perfect partner for this version of the song. Together, their voices blend beautifully and really bring this song to even stronger R&B/Soul/Jazzy vibes than it had previously.

It is a great tune with a real catchy vibe to it and would appeal to music fans in general not just in the country market. Whilst it is a break up track, the melody delivers a real feel-good energy which gets the toe tapping and makes you feel emotional.

Of the collaboration Callista says;

Having Jimmie Allen on ‘Wish You Wouldn’t’ is a literal dream come true. He was the only person I wanted for that song—he brings such an effortlessly smooth charm to the song. I’m still ecstatic he said ‘yes’!

Of working with Callista Jimmie says;

I love diving into all types of projects and experimenting with different artists so I was honored Callista asked me to jump on this song—I’m grateful to be a part of her journey,” added Jimmie. “We met out on the road years ago and she has become like a little sister to me. She is an incredible talent and I loved getting to play with the variation between the fast and slow vocals—it’s a fun song to sing.”

Wish You Wouldn’t was written by Callista Clark, Emily Falvey, Lalo Guzman.

Clark and Allen have also released a video for the song.
