C2C Festival 2019

Hotel Review -The Intercontinental – London O2 – Always a Highlight of our C2C Festival Weekend

There is always such a great feeling when you walk throught the doors of The Intercontinental Hotel London O2. Welcomed by the doorman, concierge and reception staff, you feel as if you belong, they make you feel that way. Opening doors, offering help with your bags, you certainly get the VIP treatment no matter who you are. There are even staff waiting by the lifts at times to press the buttons for you if you are loaded with luggage. Staying here is always a highlight of our C2C Festival weekend and something we look forward to all year.

We love it at The Intercontinental and have spent the last three years staying here during the Country 2 Country Festival weekend. Not only is it perfect in its location as is walking distance from both the O2 and the tube station but it is also comfort in every way.

Little things made this stay memorable and wonderful for us. Things such as being given a bottle of water when looking flustered and having the same staff in the same areas so we had familiar faces surrounding us. The breakfast staff especially were wonderful and seeing the same staff every day was really lovely as they were so accommodating, always said hello and asked how you were and they made extra special time for my three year old who I think was a massive hit throughout the hotel staff haha.

I have to mention Atilla, the wonderful night manager who helped with all our queries and went the extra mile for us and was so incredibly kind.

The rooms having amazing views of the Thames and the city, Canary Wharf and beyond. The beds, incredibly comfortable and the room very spacious.

Amrita in the breakfast hall from Nepal was an absolute delight, making sure my son had crayons and always speaking to him. The breakfast selection is so good that you wish you had the appetite to try everything. With cereals, cooked breakfast, pastries, pancakes, cold meats and fish, smoothies, yoghurts and much more, you are really spoilt for choice. You can even ask for an omelette or waffles from the staff to make you instead.

The Swimming Pool was a great bonus, our son loved to swim during the kids hours and we did too. Taking advantage of the Spa on the day before C2C began, I had a luxurious Body Scrub and felt incredibly relaxed and enjoyed the variety of herbal teas on offer in the spa waiting area which I must add is relaxing on its own.

We always have such a pleasant feeling when we stay here. Whilst of course there are places for less, you do get your money’s worth here and like some other guests were saying to me, ” we save up all year and it is worth it every time”.  I also like the fact that I could pop back every now and then to charge my phone or have a cup of tea and get changed or drop my bags off.

We spotted many of the artists across the weekend in the hotel and artists such as Jimmie Allen hung in the Sky Bar and mixed with all the hotel guests.

We had a lovely relaxing G&T in the Meridian Lounge downstairs and avoided the overpacked bars inside the O2. Check out the Clipper bar too for some special vodkas and cocktails. The Market Brasserie also offers great menu deals for delicious foods without having to queue for hours.

We always leave The Intercontinental Hotel London O2 feeling happy and sad at the same time because we don’t want to leave and cannot believe it will be another year before we can stay again. It truly makes the whole C2C Festival experience so much more enjoyable, so much so in fact that we make this our little family holiday every year. With the cable cars being so close by, my son also had the time of his life.

When staff treat your children so well, you know you are in a good place. We will definitely be coming back.
