Catherine McGrath has often been tagged as the Irish Taylor Swift and as a huge fan of hers, I don’t think she would ever get tired of that comparison. Over the last year Catherine has grown from strength to strength and it isn’t hard to see why. With her debut album Talk of This Town just around the corner (Released July 27th via Warner.bros Records) it has been quite exciting getting song releases leading up to the release date but her current single Don’t Let Me Forget with Hunter Hayes sets the bar pretty dang high and now we are even more excited for the album.
Catherine has been spending a lot of time in Nashville recently and I don’t think it will be long before she breaks America. Don’t Let Me Forget is exactly what you would expect to be hearing on US Country radio right now – its simple yet effective melody is quite catchy and the vocals are soothing, inviting and infectious. Catherine has captured the true essence of the modern day Nashville in this song and it should appeal to a whole new audience and with the addition of Hunter Hayes will no doubt convert his fans too. Being signed to Warner alongside her duet partner Hunter Hayes, it was a no brainer to put these two together and we are so glad it happened.
Don’t Let Me Forget is produced by Forest Glen Whitehead (Kelsea Ballerini) and written by Catherine McGrath, Forest Glen Whitehead and Adam Hambrick.
“This is one of the few positive love songs I’ve written,” says Catherine. “It’s written from the perspective of being with someone and recognising how special the relationship you have is in that moment. But you also have to remember that relationships won’t always be easy and they won’t always feel as magic as they used to. So you want the other person to remind you of the magic and the good times before you start to lose sight of them.
Getting to have a collaboration on the album was so exciting and for it to be Hunter made it even better. He has been one of my favourite artists for years. We met properly at the C2C festival in London two years ago, and when we sent him Don’t Let Me Forget to see if he’d be interested in collaborating on it he even put some guitar on the track too. I hope everyone’s gonna love the song.”
The video was directed by Justin Nolan Key.
Catherine is going places, from starting out as a sweet, shy new singer in the UK/Ireland country scene that we were slowly getting to know, Catherine has grown into a confident, strong, unstoppable artist and is a very important woman in country music right now and not just in the UK but all over.
