Scotty McCreery gets his first number one with Five More Minutes and why we think 2018 is his year

I think that 2018 is going to be Scotty McCreery’s year and deservedly so.  In 2011 Scotty won American Idol and has gone on to have a successful career with a very dedicated fan base, three studio albums and much more.

Scotty made history in 2011 becoming the first country artist and the youngest male artist of any genre to have his debut studio album, the Platinum-certified Clear as Day, at No. 1 on the all-genre Billboard Top 200 Albums chart.

Fast forward to 2017 – (five years since Scotty’s last album) Scotty released his debut single Five More Minutes off of his soon to be released album Seasons Change. Five More Minutes hit home for a lot of people with its relatable, warming and honest lyrics. Written in honour of his Grandfather, Scotty invites us for a trip down memory lane, pulling at everyone’s heart strings.

Scotty has proven he is a major contender in the country music charts this year as Five More Minutes secured the number one position in the country music charts giving Scotty his first ever number one hit. Congratulations Scotty. With this song receiving such success,  his career will only continue to grow as soon as his eagerly anticipated album Seasons Change gets released.

Oh hitting number one with 5MM, an overjoyed McCreery said, “There was a time I thought this song would never see the light of day. Seeing this song, inspired by my Granddaddy Bill, go Gold and then become my first number one means the world to me! After writing it with Frank Rogers and Monty Criswell, I tweeted out that ‘I think I just wrote my favorite song I’ve ever written,’ and that still holds true today. Thank you to my fans, country radio, Triple 8 Management, Triple Tigers Records, my band and crew, and everyone on my team. A big thank you to Bobby Bones for bringing national attention to the song. Gabi and I have been celebrating all day!”

When we spoke with Scotty last year he said of the song

Five More Minutes” is my favorite song I’ve ever written and it is so gratifying to see how it has connected with others. So many people have shared their stories with me about how the song has brought back memories for them or brought them closer to the people in their lives. It’s been a great experience.

Scotty has an infectious deep vocal which just grabs your attention with one note. His style of singing was born for country music and he is a breath of fresh air in the current country music scene. Scotty co – wrote every track off of his new album proving his talents as a songwriter as well as a singer and if 5MM is anything to go by then my goodness are we in for a treat.

Scotty doesn’t just bring vocal and writing talents to his music but he also brings light, warmth, emotional honesty and a wonderful personality (he is just so nice) which is why he is someone fans can connect with so well and you can really hear that in his music and even more so in his live shows.
