I knew there was a reason I was instantly drawn to Ashliegh Lisset – if her outstanding vocals alone weren’t enough it was also because her single Goodbye was co – written with the wonderful Kelsea Ballerini, Jennifer Denmark, and Mark Alderman.
Goodbye is a fantastic pop country song and exactly the kind of music that Kelsea herself releases so any fan of Kelsea’s should instantly take to Ashliegh. Ashliegh has a powerful vocal which really suits country pop music and there is definitely room for her in the country music world, I just hope that she gets the recognition that she deserves.
Looking into more of her songs I found myself really enjoying Kill The Headlights which was written by Carrie Underwood, Luke Laird and Hillary Lindsey so of course it was going to be a good tune. Ashliegh’s youthful, well toned and rich vocals stand out in this song and show off her vocal range. This song has a very early Carrie Underwood sound from her Carnival Ride era and is such an addictive tune, I just love it! This song is at least three years old so where have I been? How did I miss it? Kill the Headlights experienced great success. Not only was this song frequently featured on Sirius XM’s The Highway as a “Highway Find,” but it also spent an impressive eight weeks on The Highway’s Top 30. Again, where was I?
Miles Apart makes me wonder why Ashliegh isn’t on a major label, her voice is just ‘Wow’ and with vocals like these, she should without a doubt be on the radio, known to all country fans and releasing album after album. Miles Apart is a beautiful country pop ballad, and the strength and emotion in her voice is truly powerful.
Target On My Heart is really fun and up beat and far too strong vocally and sonically to not be heard worldwide.
The Call again is such a strong song with a very pop sound that belongs on country radio. This infectious tune is upbeat and edgy and is a sound I have missed in country music lately.
Ashliegh is an amazing artist with an early Carrie Underwood and Kelsea Ballerini style to her music with elements of Jana Kramer and Maren Morris that is very relevant and very current. Ashliegh simply has to be heard – her fresh sound is so exciting and fun that I would love to hear an album and catch a live show as she is everything that I love about country pop.
