Cheltenham Jazz Festival

Cheltenham Festivals: Places to Eat In Montpellier and Surrounding areas of The Festivals

Montpellier is a district of Cheltenham and where Cheltenham Jazz Festival and other Cheltenham Festivals take place. Whilst most places we will be listing on our selected list of restaurants are within walking distance, the restaurants closely surrounding Montpellier and ones that are in Montpellier are of course the closest to where the events will take place.

Montpellier and the surrounding roads are full of beautiful architecture and is known for its boutiques, cafés and restaurants many of which are independent. There are also the gardens where Cheltenham Jazz Festival will be taking place.

We haven’t tried every restaurant or café in Montpellier….yet, but we have listed ones that have caught our attention whether that be where we would personally like to dine or where we think people would enjoy!

All the restaurants are close to each other so there are plenty of options if you want to walk around and have a look when you are here however as the festival will be on, it is advisable to book ahead to avoid disappointment.

The Daffodil

Located on Suffolk Parade, The Daffodil is described as per their website;

The Daffodil restaurant is a hidden gem, tucked inside a beautiful 1920’s cinema. The building has many unique period features; the sweeping staircase, art deco features, projectors and beautiful entrance reception, the venue has been sympathetically adapted in keeping with the Hollywood glamour and art deco style synonymous with the venue since the 20s.

We have always wanted to eat here but just have not got round to it yet, which is silly. The Daffodil were an independent steak restaurant but now run events and provide special three course meals with those events. The Daffodil have partnered up with Cheltenham Jazz Festival to host a few very special shows which include a three course dinner, drink on arrival and of course live music. Find out what they have going on for the rest of the year here

The Daffodil first caught our attention a couple of years back and were very active in the ‘Eat out to help out scheme’ so much so that they kept the offer going for many months after.

Young Jack Fruit , pumpkin, crispy brown onion crumb, burani raita.

This restaurant looks amazing and the menu looks delicious and different to any restaurant that we have been to before. We are very much looking forward to trying this out.

The Chelsea Brasserie

Sam’s Montpellier

A restaurant with a wide variety of food, the website states that

not everyone has the same food preferences and often there are a variety of dietary requirements, so Sam developed a ‘menu for all’. There’s a variety of tasty options inspired by the earth (plant based), the land (meat), and the sea (fish). The clear signposting on our menu means if you do have allergies you can make an informed choice.

The menu includes;

Smoked Cashew Croquette, Beetroot Puree, Kale Crisps (2) (VE) £7

Scottish Scallops, Cauliflower Puree, Cauliflower Couscous, Bacon Crumb (GF/DF) £11

Full menu here

They also boast a great variety of cocktails and their signature cocktail is the Elderflower Martini.

A French restaurant which of course makes sense in a district with a French name, we don’t have enough French restaurants in the UK.

Their menu does include typical (yet not seen so often these days) foods such as snails and rabbit. (Not to my taste but still)

For us, the lunch menu was more attractive as included;

Bacon and Cheese Omelette served with Vinaigrette Salad

(Omelette Bacon-Fromage, Salade Verte)    £ 8.95

Traditional Beef “Bourguignon”, cooked in Burgundy Wine Mash or Fries, Vegetables

(Le Boeuf Bourguignon cuisine au vin de Bourgogne) £ 13.95

Smoked Salmon Omelette served with Vinaigrette Salad

(Omelette au Saumon Fumé, Salade Verte)        £ 9.95

Lunch menu can be seen here

À La Carte menu here

There are so many more options such as chain restaurants including Zizzi, Côte Brassiere and more and many cafes too. A good old fashioned google is highly recommend.
