As a website that focuses on the musical stylings of Nashville, Tennessee, we do like to try and talk about other things we love about Nashville and one of those things of course is food!!!!
Now we love American themed food! We love going to a diner, getting a good choice of burgers, gourmet hot dogs and delicious crispy chicken but it isn’t always easy to find places here that do it as well as the US.
I was just talking to singer/songwriter Breland recently about his song Praise The Lord and how one of the lyrics says “Praise the lord for crispy chicken” and I told him that we don’t do it so well here.
However, we think we may have found some places here in Cheltenham that have all the things we have been missing.
So let’s start with talking about….
Holee Cow is pretty much in the town centre up a side road. (49 Winchcombe St, Cheltenham GL52 2NE). It may be a little way from the Festival but definitely worth the small walk.
Looking at the menu and the photos it is no wonder that they describe themselves for serving the dirtiest, naughtiest, sexiest, most beautiful burgers in all of Gloucestershire.
Holee Cow offer Beef, Chicken, Lamb, Vegan and Gluten free options. Check out the burger menu here
It isn’t just their burgers that impress though but their delicious sides that are almost impossible to choose from. The sides include Macaroni Cheese Bites, Jerk BBQ Chicken Strips, Kim Jong-Un Wings/Strips and Buffallo Wings. Check out the Sides menu here.
There are also various loaded fries options, various sauces and some scrumptious milkshakes available too. Coming with the kids? Check out the kids meal deal here
Truffle Cheese Fries V
Crispy skin on fries mixed with parmesan, chives, smoked cheddar & black truffle oil.
And now let’s talk about that crispy chicken we have been waiting for…
50 Suffolk Road, Cheltenham, GL50 2AQ
Burgers, wings, sauces what more could you want?
The chicken burgers are marinated chicken breast drenched in their crispy cornflake coating.
Menu includes burgers with blue cheese, nachos, avocado, pesto, pineapple and more. Check out the menu here
There are many wings options with tasty and hot sauces such as the Kim Jong, Hey Pesto, Nacho Libre, Red Strike, Buffallo and more.
and other options such as salads: Burito Rice Box and Green Machine.

Another option is family favourite TGI Fridays
TGI Fridays is a little bit out of the way where most of the festivities will take place, however, it also next to a premier inn where a lot of attendees may be staying and if you are still looking for a place to stay then this may not be a bad idea. It is still within walking distance to the festival but we’re talking maybe 15 to 20 minutes and it’s not a direct walking route.
Cheltenham’s TGI Fridays is one of our favourite branches from the chain. Not being surrounded by a busy area makes it a bit more appealing. Always friendly and attentive staff, we haven’t had a bad experience yet.
TGI’s is mostly American themed food and a fantastic cocktail bar what else can we really tell you? If you’re with your family and have young ones with you then they cover a lot of typical foods that kids want these days, pasta, chicken nuggets, hamburger, vegan meat balls etc. On the kids menu (which is new menu now) there is also a great desert option to create your own sundae with 8 options of toppings (choose 3) such as haribo, orea crumbles, marshmallows, white chocolate buttons, stawberries, banana, brownie pieces, berries.
As Cheltenham Jazz Fest takes place in the week as well as a weekend you do get offers such as the 2 Course Menu – Get an Appetizer and a Main Meal* for £15 Monday – Friday until 5pm
Whenever we go, we pretty much order the same thing. (Not adventurous I know) but I do like to mix it up a bit. I usually go for Mozzarella Dippers which come with marinara sauce & basil aioli but I also ask for jack daniels sauce as it tastes delicious with the dippers.
For main I usually go for the Burger with Jack Daniels Glaze. Coated in our Legendary Glaze, with lettuce, mayo, tomato, pickled red onions, Monterey Jack cheese, crispy bacon and extra Legendary Glaze.
I used to go for a Black and Blue burger but they haven’t had that for years so as well as the Jack Daniels glaze I ask for some blue cheese sauce too. Delicious.
New on the desert menu for us (not been in a while) which I went for was the S’MORES SUNDAE VEGETARIAN FAMOUS
Crunchy Biscoff® biscuit pieces, crumbled chocolate flake and a caramelised Biscoff® sauce between layers of dairy ice cream with a toasted mallow topping. S’morish!. Very tasty!
Check out the menu and drinks and cocktails menu in the links.
16 Bennington St, Cheltenham, GL50 4ED
This should appeal to fans of the Jazz festival as Smokey Joes is also a Jazz Club
The menu offers American Diner themed food such as Brunch, Burgers, Hot Dogs, Salads, Nachos and more.
There aren’t many places that do gourmet hot dogs so if that is what you are craving, then this is definitely the place to go. Hot dogs include;
Classic Dog, New York Dog, Chilli Dog and Vegan Classic Dog.
Full English, Smoked Bacon and Maple Syrup Waffles, Breakfast Burger, Vegan Option, Smashed Avocado and Poached Egg on Sourdough and more
There looks to be some amazing drink and desert options too but I cannot find a menu for that but they do have photos.
And on the website it says they do 2 for £10 Cocktails Fri to Sat 17.30 – 20.30
Check out the menu here
We have yet to discover more American Themed Restaurants locally but are very happy with what we have found so far.
