The Long Road festival returns this August for a bank holiday weekend filled with the finest array of American sights, experiences, tastes and sounds found this side of the Atlantic, and is adding another raft of next-level names today.
Joining the previously announced Sunday headliner The Cadillac Three, the legendary Chris Young and Drake
White join the top of the highly curated line up of acts set to grace the
stages of Leicestershire’s stunning Stanford Hall estate.
Multi-platinum global entertainer Chris Young has firmly established himself as one of Country music’s most distinctive and popular male voices in the genre today, earning numerous prestigious award nominations from the likes of the Grammys, American Music Awards, Academy of Country Music, Country Music Association and CMT Music Awards and even took home Best International
Act of the Year at the British CMA’s. Expect a huge show packed with mega hits like ‘Tomorrow’, ‘I’m Comin’ Over,’ ‘Drinking Me Lonely’ and the biggest song on Country Radio across the US last year ‘Famous Friends’.
“I’m excited to return to the UK later this year – I’ve released a lot of new music since I was there in 2019 and can’t wait to play a lot of these new songs from Famous Friends when I see everyone at The Long Road,” shares Young.
Headlining the opening Friday night at The Long Road is the Northeastern Alabama native Drake White, bringing the soul and rhythm of his upbringing in the Appalachian foothills with a spectacular set of tracks including ‘Girl In Pieces’ and ‘Nothing Good Happens After Midnight’. A firm favourite among UK Country music fans, Drake makes his long-awaited return to British shores here this summer.
The Long Road also welcomes beloved British singer-songwriter Rumer for 2022. A Brit Award-nominated artist backed by music heavyweights Elton John and Jools Holland, she’ll deliver a memorable set filled with songs from her Platinum-selling debut right through to her most recent record ‘Nashville Tears (The Songs of Hugh Prestwood)’. Canadian multi-instrumentalist Allison Russell just picked up three nominations for the Grammy Awards 2022, including one for American Roots Performance, and brings her cathartic soulful songs to The Long Road’s stage during what is set to be a massive year for the breakout solo artist. Whilst the Houston born, Milwaukee-raised Buffalo Nichols is bringing the blues of the past into the future, along with his strong desire to tell more Black stories within the genre, heard on tracks such as ‘How To Love’, ‘These Things’ or ‘Lost & Lonesome’.
Rissi Palmer’s Color Me Country stage is also taking shape with this announcement, revealing incredible artists joining her in shining a spotlight on diverse voices in the country scene. These include “The Voice” contestant Valerie Ponzio who brings her Latin influences to the fore, the west coast jazz and southern soul sounds of Madeline Edwards – a Spotify Hot Country Artist To Watch in 2022, as well as Native American songwriter and activist Charly Lowry and the soul-stirring New Orleans family trio Chapel Hart. Camille Parker represents a new wave of Black women in country music through her African and Jamaican roots, and San Francisco’s Miko Marks returns to the stage after a musical hiatus, eager to spread a message of unity and hope for Black musicians in Country music.
Artist and Apple Music Country radio host Rissi Palmer, who will be performing herself as well as curating the special Color Me Country line up, introduces the project… “I am honored to present these 6 dynamic, compelling, and dazzling artists that are well on their way to becoming household names. I chose each one of them based on the quality of their music, the high level of showmanship, and their undeniable charisma. This is a show not to be missed”
Other exciting names joining the bill today include the fearless viral TikTok sensation Priscilla Block, The Proclaimers’ Craig Reid’s very own daughter Roseanne Reid, Sub Pop’s folk-rock band Fruit Bats fronted by The Shins member Eric D. Johnson and the British alt-country band Legends of Country, formed by Jof Owen from The Boy Least Likely To. Rounding off today’s announcement are the bluegrass banjo rappers Gangstagrass, New York’s five-piece group of mind-blowing pioneers.
With a welcoming celebration of the finest handpicked artists, the three day camping event gathers together a range of alternative music fans for a joyous weekend in the great outdoors. Expect more news to come on a whole world of displays and extra events to entice every kind of American muscle car and vintage motorcycle enthusiast, as well as an unbeatable array of vendors to cater to craft beer drinkers and foodies with a taste for the famous southern hospitality.
The rise and rise of country music’s popularity and appreciation in the UK in recent years is undeniable, and coupled with the artist and fan community’s ever-inclusive spirit, the British audience is primed to fully embrace a genre that is filled with heartfelt songs and authentic stories transcending borders and boundaries. All coming together this August, alongside the likes of previously announced stars including Brandy Clark, LOCASH, Lauren Alaina, Lindsay Ell, Sara Evans, Gretchen Peters, Sunny Sweeney, Cassadee Pope and many more, The Long Road stands as uniquely unmissable shining beacon in the festival calendar this summer.
The Long Road takes place between 26-28 August Bank Holiday Weekend 2022 at Stanford Hall, Leicestershire. Day tickets are currently £50 and weekend tickets start from £115 (subject to booking fees). All tickets and payment plans available via https://www.thelongroad.com/tickets/
