Merging modernist country with hip-hop infused production doesn’t sound like a natural cocktail, but Willie Jones has the undeniable talent and sheer force of personality to make it work. His early releases such as ‘Bachelorettes on Broadway’, ‘Down For It’ and ‘Whole Lotta Love’ have made an impression gaining support from Wonderland, Spindle, tmrw, Fault, Maverick, Fabulous Magazine , Daily Star, Sunday Mirror, Echoes and more, suggesting it’s only a matter of time before the 25-year-old fires himself into the mainstream with a major crossover hit.
Now Willie Jones shares his latest single ‘Back Porch’ out via 4 SOUND / EMPIRE. The beats hit hard, providing a street-smart backdrop to his authentic country voice, which is capped with a killer banjo solo. The song’s message is enticing grab a cold drink, hang out with someone you love, and embrace one of life’s simplest pleasures.
“I wasn’t in the best place mentally, spiritually or physically but one afternoon, I was on my buddy’s back porch, chilling, in the open air and it really helped me to reassess things” explains Willie. “I think now more than ever people need some peace of mind and being outside, chilling with the ones you love in the comfortability of your own home or back porch is the way to get that. The song is a reminder to be thankful for everything you have.”
Willie Jones co-wrote the song with Nick Autry (Keith Urban, Carrie Underworld, Garth Brooks) and producer Michael Lotten (Mitchell Tenpenny, Dustin Lynch).
To celebrate the launch of ‘Back Porch’, Willie will be opening his own back porch in Nashville for a virtual hangout with his fans and friends whilst having a BBQ. Willie will be joined on Instagram throughout the evening by Walker Hayes, Michael Ray, Blanco Brown, Filmore, Adam Doleac, Renee Blair, Abbey Anderson, Easton Corbin among others. The Back Porch BBQ will be LIVE on IG from 6-8pm CST / 12am-2am BST.
Hailing from Shreveport, Louisiana, halfway between Dallas and New Orleans, Willie Jones’ early musical interests spanned everything: from gospel, pop and R&B to the country and hip-hop vibes he embraces within his own music. He wanted to become a country singer since the age of 14, when he won a school talent show by covering Josh Turner’s ‘Why Don’t We Just Dance’.
Willie Jones naturally fits into the country, hip-hop and pop worlds. He’s played with Shawn Mendes, Willie Nelson, the Eli Young Band and Michael Ray; collaborated with Logan Mize; and hit key playlists at Spotify, Apple Music and TIDAL. Making a thoroughly modern sound yet respecting the old traditions, Willie Jones is doing things his own way.
