C2C Festival 2019

Country 2 Country Festival (C2C) 2019: Dustin Lynch – London O2 Arena – Live Review

Having never seen Dustin Lynch live, I didn’t really know what to expect. Despite enjoying his music I did worry he would be “just another bro country performer” but thankfully, I couldn’t have been farther from the truth. Dustin was like a kid at Christmas. It was so clear throughout his set at just how grateful he was to be at C2C Festival in front of thousands of UK country fans.

Kicking things off with Hell of a Night, we, the audience certainly were in for exactly that.

Dustin’s energy was on fire and if anyone had any doubts about him, they were soon gone as the O2 shook from the amount of fun everyone was having. Not knowing many of his songs that well, I knew from this set that that was about to change and that I needed to start paying more attention to this artist.

Hits like Good Girl and I’d Be Jelous Too, Mind Reader and Seein’ Red were happily met with a loud sing a long and loud cheer. An emotional moment came from his cover of Adele’s Someone Like You which blended into his powerfully moving song about his grandparents Cowboys and Angels. Another cover came with Friends In Low Places by Garth Brooks which also saw a massive sing-a-long as one would expect from a harcore country crowd.

Dustin closed the set with Small Town Boy and made many many new fans that night. What was sweet was how he stayed on stage for quite a while after his set to just take it in for a little bit longer and to acknowledge his fans a bit closer.

Dustin and his band were insanely good and the entire set was not just energetic but electrifying, up beat , exciting and so much fun. Live, Lynch’s vocals are sublime and shows his recordings just do not do him enough justice. He rocked the stage and covered every part of the stage he could. At one point he looked way up to the top of the arena and said “I have only just noticed there is a section way up there”. (Or something along those lines). So many people were there to see him and I don’t think he expected it.

We have to have Dustin back asap.
