For three years the audacity of Strictly Come Dancing no longer name checking the fabulous singers that entertain the Strictly audience during the celebrities dancing is beyond shocking. A name such as Tommy Blaize shouldn’t escape anyone’s notice, let alone the Strictly fans. The hard work that goes into the singers and band of strictly each week is mind blowing and really shows their professionalism. Hours and hours of hard work should not be dismissed to the point that the singers are no longer named on the live shows. Having their names mentioned each week may have helped fans be more aware of this tour and I feel there will many gutted to have missed it but…it isn’t too late as the tour is still in full swing !

The Henrician in Evesham was full of loving fans. Not completely sold out, but sold enough, it was a lovely venue with comfortable seats and a great view from any seat.

Blaize tell his audience of what his work schedule is like each week at Strictly knowing that a lot of his audience are strictly fans. He tells the story with pride though and not of complaint. In fact, all his stories of his Strictly experience are with love, especially as he talks about Len Goodman! Blaize has been a part of the show since the pilot and what this tour also tells you, is how much of a seasoned performer he is and how he has been such a huge part of our lives even before Strictly without some of us even knowing. Blaize voiced well known adverts back in the 80’s and 90’s and has been a session musician for years with some of the worlds biggest names, it’s incredible what he has achieved.

Blaize is an all round entertainer. I may have been one of few in the audience who doesn’t watch Strictly but booked the show after seeing him perform as part of the Soul Jazz Summit at Cheltenham Jazz Festival last year! His vocals impressed me so much that the opportunity to see a whole show was a no brainer.

The Tommy Blaize tour is by no means just for Strictly fans, it’s for fans of music, of Soul, Blues and Jazz and for anyone who just wants a good evening out! Blaize’s voice on Strictly doesn’t even give him the credit he deserves. His voice is flawless and wonderfully soulful and it soars in the ease of his own shows that you can’t help but be completely captivated by his every note!

The Liverpudlian singer is hilarious! A show set up like a living room as Blaize says we have watched him for years in our living rooms so he is now bringing his living room to us. A one man show, some may not have realised that Tommy is an exceptional musician as well as a singer. Playing the keyboards to sheer perfection and the guitar and ukulele, Blaize says he has become used to having a band but one was not needed on this tour. The show was intimate and homely! Blaize looks at all his audience and makes them all feel a part of the show with banter, sing a longs and an opportunity for fans to take part in a q&a.

With cover songs well known to the audience such as Sunny, Moon River, Georgia on My Mind and more, Blaize made each song his own and his skills on the keys were second to none. Blaize may make his songs his own but he tells a funny story of some lads he met from Barnsley in (I think he said Ibiza) who did their own rendition of My Girl after seeing him perform it and renaming it ‘Our Lass’. That was just one of many stories that had the audience in fits of laughter. As well as making the audience laugh, he also told us stories more on the emotional side, mostly happy ones and all fascinating.

I would see Tommy Blaize again in a heartbeat if I had the opportunity! It was such an amazing show that puts you in such a good mood, so much so that I can’t stop talking about it. It’s just such a feel good performance, a really wonderful experience.

The tour is still on and he will be at various spots across the UK so please please go out and support such a wonderful man on what is such a great show! If you are on the fence, just go for it! It’s like being in the audience of a friend! I thoroughly enjoyed myself and am so glad that I booked to go and see him! No support act and an interval, the show was relaxed and intimate and ended in good time so not to have a really late night. Tommy even stays behind after the show to meet every fan who wants to.

Tommy Blaize deserves so much more recognition! Blaize is a natural performer, an exceptional vocalist and musician and has a wonderful way to make all his audience feel part of his highly entertaining show!
