Tigirlily Gold are one of the success stories that have come out of the UK’s Country 2 Country (C2C) Festival. Their debut single Shoot Tequila of off their EP Blonde became somewhat of the C2C Festival anthem in 2023 and from what I have heard, it even pushed Tequila sales up that weekend!

Sisters Krista and Kendra who make up Tigilily Gold have been having one heck of a year which seems to be growing from strength to strength.

One of the most in demand artists to return to C2C 2024 after an epic debut in 2023, I can’t imagine festival organisers even considered for a second not bringing them back!

Tigirlily Gold returned to Country 2 Country Festival in London at the O2 Arena 2024 and played a set on the Spotlight Stage inside the O2 Arena itself as well as playing the BBC Radio 2 stage and more!

With their current single I Tried A Ring On being a massive hit amongst fans, Tigirlily Gold delivered another epic set of performances across the weekend! I think it’s safe to say that they definitely have a home here now!

We caught up with Krista and Kendra at C2C Festival to discuss their time here, how they compare it to last years event, their single I Tried A Ring On, performing with Dolly Parton and more!

Hi – how are you both?

We are good, we are running on about three hours sleep as we flew in from Glasgow last night. We played The Hydro.

Of course, how was that?

Krista – it was amazing

Kendra – Ah-maz-ing! I definitely felt tears filling in my eyes as I walked in there yesterday! We are just so grateful for these experiences. We’re from a small town in North Dakota so to be able to come to places like London and play the O2, we are so grateful and it’s a little overwhelming in the best way!

Were they rowdy in Glasgow?

Both – So Rowdy

Krista – we have a song called Shoot Tequila and they were ready to go! I expect nothing less from London or even more haha!

Well welcome back to C2C, you are one of the artists from last year that people requested to come back the most!

Kendra- It’s really been fun to see the comments on our social media and people requesting us on C2C’s socials. We had such a great experience being here last year and the fans over here are just incredible. Honestly, we might just move here at some point haha because we LOVE it so much over here. We love the people, we love the food, the scenery, the history, it’s amazing!

I always say that the first time an artist plays here they have signed an invisible contract to come back over and over again

Krista – if that was a real contract, I’d still sign it haha!

I saw you with Breland on the after party stage last year at C2C. That was fun!

Krista – that was so much fun and Breland is so talented. He asked us to sing one of the songs with him and it was such a cool way after our show to keep the night going and have a little fun!

Kendra – he is so incredibly talented and he is great at bringing other artists with him for collaborations.

‘I Tried a Ring On’ is one of the most beautiful songs that I have heard in a long time!

You are on the Spotlight Stage inside the O2 – please tell me you are singing it?

Kendra – we are! We are doing Shoot Tequila, I Tried a Ring On and we might have an extra surprise.

Ooh! Tell us about the process behind the song as it is so emotional!

Krista – I think everybody struggles with a break up in different ways! I noticed that one of the hardest parts of a break up is having to start all over again! People talk about, having to get over someone and missing them less and less. Really when you’re in a serious relationship you picture that forever with somebody. We’re both confident women and we know we’re going to be ok no matter what happens even if life throws you a little bit of heartbreak but that’s not the point of the song. The point of the song is dealing with that frustration that you thought you had forever and now having to start all over again!

Oh my goodness I’m actually crying sorry haha and I’m happily married too! Man, that song!!!

Krista – Hey Kendra is happily married and it still rocks her!

Kendra – I am happily married and that song still when I sing it, it makes me very emotional and even last night singing it and when we sing it at the O2 it’s going to be very hard for me to hold those tears back and just be in that moment. It’s our favourite song that we have ever written. Getting to play it in the O2 for the first time, that is going to give me chills.

Yes and those acoustics in the arena…I will probably cry! My husband has done nothing wrong but I may have to call him after and say “hey, you haven’t done anything wrong but YOU b*****d!” And then hang up!

We have to talk about Doggy Parton!

Krista – Oh my goodness so, our Icon hero of all time is Dolly Parton, obviously, I mean she’s such a legend! We got to meet her the other week! She had a dog fashion show with performances of course as she’s Dolly! She asked us to be a part of the show where we all got to sing on stage. We got to sing Jolene with her which we had been doing on Broadway in Nashville as cover bands for so many years. So to sing WITH Dolly Parton is a moment we will never forget! She was so kind and everything and more that I wanted her to be. She took me in her hands and she looked me in the eyes and said “thank you for being here” and I was like “no Dolly, thank you for letting me be a part of it” I was like “I have been touched by an angel” it was amazing!!!!

Kendra – Even to say the words “we’ve sung Jolene with Dolly Parton does not seem real somehow? It’s a memory that will be one of our favourite memories forever!

You did The Ryman for her Birthday as well?

Krista – yeah, so Opry have shows at The Ryman so it was Opry at The Ryman goes Dolly. I mean three of our favourite things. Three of our favourite things and we sang “Here You Come Again” by Dolly. It was such a magical night, she wasn’t there but she sent in a video! We wore a lot of pink haha.

Kendra – It was actually my birthday that day too. I have the same birthday as Dolly Parton, 50 years apart, that’s my fun fact whenever someone asks. I don’t think my birthday will ever be better than that! I have nothing to look forward to now hahahaha I’m just kidding!

Kendra – When you say that it doesn’t seem real still!

How much has life changed since ‘Shoot Tequila’ as I kind of hold that as last years C2C’s anthem!

Krista – It has been crazy! It was our first top 40 hit at country radio. I know over here people really latched on to it! I think you guys (in the UK) were ahead of the curve.

Kendra – You were!

Krista – the last time we came over here was the most people we had seen sing Shoot Tequilla back to us for the first time. Towards the end of the year the song grew and grew. It has allowed us to tour all over and allowed people of all demographics to come together and hang out at a Tigirlily show and shoot tequilla. It brings people together!

We hear that so often that the C2C audience is where artists first ever hear their songs being sang back to them! I like to think we, the C2C fans are personally responsible for artists successful careers haha!

Kendra – The fans are so dedicated here it’s incredible and they’re so grateful! It’s an experience, it’s hard to explain unless you are here but..

Krista – It’s just different

Kendra – We love it so so much! When we heard them singing Shoot Tequila back at us for the first time, we were like, what??? What is happening? This is really working!!! We were pretty blown away!

What are you working on at the moment?

Kendra – we have some more music on our way! We are even throwing a little fan party here at C2C.

Yes I’ll be there

Kendra – Oh good! You guys may get a little sneak peek of the music there!

Krista – We released our EP Blonde last year which had four songs on it so you can expect a continuation of that project, the full album! Then a lot of touring and a lot of festivals back in the states.

Kendra – CMA Fest, I know a lot of UK’ers come over for CMA Fest. Hopefully we are doing a UK tour maybe who knows?

Kendra – That’s our goal, we want to bring our band over here as well.

Krista – We know that there is so much of the UK to explore. We have only ever been to London so…

Just a silly question, who is the more serious and who is more the joker out of the two of you?

Kendra – So I am the older sister. I would say I am generally a little more serious. Krista is a little more jokey but we can switch real quick! Krista is a little more sarcastic and funny! She’ll throw out some one liners that are hilarious! I am the older sister so I am keeping everyone in line!

Krista – we both like to have a little of fun haha!

Do you have any hobbies or interests that fans may not be aware of?

Krista – In our down time I love to bake.

Kendra – Krista is an excellent baker, she actually watches….

Krista – That’s one of my comforts. If I need to relax, I watch that. I love that show! Kendra is really good at hair and make up but clearly you can see that already!

Kendra – In a another life I’d like to be a hair and make up artist as I love doing hair and make up!

Please do tutorials – I need tips pronto as I cannot apply foundation well to save my life!

Kendra – It has taken me years to finally get it good!
