Billed with Elles Bailey as co-headliners, Georgia Cécile performed first on the BBC Radio 2 stage inside the Jazz Arena at Cheltenham Jazz Festival.
Hailing from Glasgow, within seconds of her first song it was clear that Georgia was born for Jazz music. She simply has it all.
A natural to the Jazz stylings vocally, Georgia blew the audience away with her breathtakingly beautiful voice and stunning music.
You didn’t need to listen to her for long to understand why she has been championed by Gregory Porter and why she was his support act at The Royal Albert Hall and why she is played on BBC Radio 2, 3, Jazz FM and BBC 6 Music so much.
Her songs took you on journeys, her vocals had you hypnotised and her band had you moving to their rhythm and beats.
Georgia played various songs from her album Only The Lover Sings and a new song that she premiered especially for us, the Cheltenham Jazz Festival audience.
Georgia gave such a dazzling performance that made you want more. She played in the afternoon so of course it was daylight but in an evening setting with the lights dimmer, I can imagine her shows to be even more bewitching. Let’s hope we can experience that soon.
