Ashley Monroe – Live in London – Live Review

I have to be honest I had only seen Ashley Monroe once before and that was on the Pop up stage at C2C.

Early on in her set I could see why she had sold out 2 dates at Bush Hall. I also surprised myself with how many songs I actually knew.
Ashley has a stunning voice which she showed off during her set with a mix of songs from her albums and some cover songs. Ashley told stories behind some fo the songs and laughed and joked with the audience during the evening. She had the audiences undivided attention.

Midway through her set she was joined on stage by Sean McConnell (who supported her show ) for a duet version of Linger (by The Cranberries).

Ashley switched her set around from Guitar to Piano and back to the Guitar. When she performed ‘Orphan’ on the Piano you could see she got really emotionally caught up in the song (as did the audience) and she had to take a deep breath afterwards to compose herself.

I really enjoyed Ashley’s performance and she left the stage to a well deserved standing ovation. I suspect there were many happy people in the crowd as they left the venue to go face the cold rain.

Ashley Monroe’s setlist:

Hands on you
Hard on a heart
Mother’s daughter
La vie en Rose
2 Weeks Late
Dixie
Mayflowers
She wake me up
Linger (Duet with Sean McConnell)
I’m trying to
Oprhan
Keys to the kingdom
Wild Love
Winning Streak
Weed instead of Roses
The Blade
(encore) Hickory Wind.
