Kylie Frey brings a dash of 90’s country into her despairing and heartbreaking song ‘Woman Outta Love’ – Single Review

Last week, Louisiana native singer/songwriter Kylie Frey released her single Woman Outta Love.

A story that sadly many may be too familiar withWoman Outta Love is a song about being young, care-free and making the wrong decisions because you think you know better (despite the people around you suggesting you slow down). The song beautifully captures the feelings of being stuck in a marriage that was never meant to be and not finding the courage to leave nor allowing yourself to admit defeat!

She didn’t say “I do” to say “I don’t”
Praying it will get better when she knows it won’t
And she’s had all her rough patches she can stand
And why’s it so hard to take it off her hand

That diamond on the left from wrong right man
It’s a never should have been white gold band
It’s too damn hard to be meant to be
And now she’s caught somewhere between

No reason to leave and no reason to stay
She’s just a Woman Outta Love
Stuck between a rock and a hard place
No reason to leave and no reason to stay
She’s just a Woman Outta Love
Stuck between a rock and a hard place

Co-written by Frey with Grace Tyler and Neal Coty, Woman Outta Love is such wonderful storytelling that you can’t help but pay attention to the words and listen over and over again to really absorb them. In fact, the more you listen, the more impact it has on you. With strong sounds of 90’s country, there are elements of early Carrie Underwood too and the melody and instrumentals translate the story in a melancholic way that match the words perfectly.

I am blown away by the response this song has gotten just by putting a chorus of it on the internet. I’m so happy that it’s out in the world and can’t wait to see this song continue to resonate and bring healing to women,” says Frey.

About Kylie Frey

In today’s country, it’s not uncommon for artists to veer from one “lane” to another, adopting a new sound and style as trends change. But there’s a growing movement within the genre suffering no such identity crisis, and there you’ll find Kylie Frey. Prior to being named one of CMT’s Next Women of Country class of 2024, Kylie was born and raised as country as it gets, a third-generation rodeo girl and Louisiana state goat-tying champion – and a rising star as genuine as her blue jeans. Sincere in her convictions and too real to dismiss, even for ardent country haters, her sound both typifies and transcends the genre. With a focus on heavy twang and heart-forward writing, she has scored nine #1’s on The Texas Regional Radio Chart, while also placing two tracks on Billboard’s National Country Indicator Chart as her career heats up. Nominated five times at the annual T3R (Texas Regional Radio Report) Awards (4X Female Vocalist of the year, 1X Video of the Year for “Horses In Heaven”), 2023 found her making her Grand Ole Opry debut, becoming a semi-finalist on Season 18 of America’s Got Talent, and releasing her Hell of a Life EP. Along with the multi-million streaming duet “Your Bar Now” (with Tyler Halverson), Frey has also appeared on multiple tracks by fellow trad-country stalwart, Cody Johnson, and earned a songwriting cut by Reba McEntire after breaking out with her 1M+ streaming hit, “One Night In Tulsa.” She looks to keep her momentum building in the months ahead, with new music and more nationwide touring.
