State Fayre Festival: Make Sure ‘The Fume Pit’ Is Part of Your Weekend.

Whilst the main reason people attend music festivals is for the music, there are many of us that find the food options are just as important. With State Fayre already showcasing plenty of country music throughout the weekend, what better way to amplify the Nashville spirit than by introducing a dedicated area celebrating southern styled food and drink?

It appears that State Fayre have gone all out food wise and their dedicated area, titled the ‘Fume Pit’ is going to be met with much popularity across the weekend so do ensure you pop by to soak up all the tasty goodness. Now we here at BOON are foodies, we attend the Big Feastival every year for this very reason and if you are a fan of that event, then I really think that State Fayre will be for you too.

What the Fume Pit will offer festival goers isn’t just a delightful variety of food but also to watch the food being made live which they have referred to as “the UK’s premier live-fire BBQ festival”.

The Fume Pit will feature some of the country’s finest and most exciting pitmasters and traders.

If you are a Netflix subscriber then you may be familiar with the KG BBQ from Netflix’s Barbecue Showdown. KG BBQ is from Austin, Texas and cooks Texas-Egyptian styled barbecue which is very intriguing and I will be making sure I catch up on the show to familiarise myself. Also on the line up is multi-award-winning chef James Peck. Peck is known for being a chef at wood-fired restaurant Ember and he can boast various awards for his craft. Ember and his pub restaurant are in Northamptonshire and look well worth a visit and we will be popping by in the not too distant future.

The Dragon Flame BBQ will be in attendance making their oak smoked meats in an open-flame theatre. Hop on over to instagram to make yourself hungry for their delicious food. We are talking smoked brisket, signature burgers, smoked fish, ribs and so much more! Talking of ribs, Rack City Ribs (overall champion at FUME Festival and masters of slow-cooked soul food with Southern and Caribbean flair) will also feature across the weekend. They will be joined by multi-award-winning wings from Shwings and Ginger Wings; standout plant-based offerings from Wholesome Junkies (as seen on Netflix and BBC Two’s Million Pound Menu) and London’s leading vegan smokehouse LD’s Kitchen.

State Fayre have promised that all food across the weekend will be good value for money with many food options being under £10. For a festival, this is a delight to hear because it’s rare, even in restaurants now, to get reasonable priced food.

If you truly are a foodie, then you may get an opportunity to take part in competitions across the weekend which I can imagine will include something along the lines of a hot dog eating contest or maybe other contests. What a great way to become Beard Meats Food for the weekend! As I mentioned above, there will be live demonstrations and this will include Big John, Eating with Tod, Ollie Eats and more!

The Fume Pit will also feature the UK’s largest live-fire cooking display which sounds incredibly exciting. What better way to witness something exclusive.

We have made ourselves hungry just writing this article and we can’t wait to try so many different food options all weekend! It is going to be one heck of a festival and undoubtedly the first of many State Fayre’s. With the musical line up already being one of the most impressive and varied line ups of any festival this year, we cannot wait to catch some good sets.
