Hanks Ranch -‘Wild West’ Themed Log Cabins to have a unique experience as well as a holiday! – Based in Norfolk, UK

Looking for something different when you go away? Bored of hotels and not particularly keen on camping in a tent or a caravan? Then look no further than Hanks Ranch!

In the heart of Norfolk, UK set on a 3.5 acre site, sits the quiet and wonderfully unique Log Cabins of Hanks Ranch that sets the perfect place for a one-off staycation holiday of a lifetime!

Get away from the sounds of the cities, the busyness of towns and the lack of total privacy from neighbours and soak up the beauty of nature in gorgeous accommodations. Get into the spirit of the wild west and kick off your cowboy boots, lay down your stetson and sit back on the rocking chair and relax on one of the cabins porches whilst chewing tobacco. (Ok, the chewing tobacco wasn’t a serious suggestion!)

The site is quiet and peaceful with lots of wildlife surrounding you. Each cabin even has binoculars to go birdwatching and explore nature in a serene environment.

They have a peacock who wanders around and does his own thing! He is quite a character and is called Pablo.

As a country music website, Hanks Ranch has been calling our name for months! Set up as an old western themed town, holiday makers can stay in either the Jail or The General Store (or you can book both as a whole site booking).

The cabins are hand crafted bespoke luxury cabins themed in the style of 1850s American Wild West. Each cabin has a super soft king size bed and en-suite bathroom with a choice of rainfall shower from the tin bucket or the riser shower, equipped with a flushing toilet and unique wash bowl sink. They also provide complimentary eco-friendly/vegan Out Of Eden hand soap and shower gels so don’t panic if you forgot yours.

Each cabin also holds a range of amenities, featuring a cooker, grill, fridge and a copper sink that beautifully compliments a one of a kind elm worktop. Central heating and full insulation will keep you cosy in winter and cool in the summer. You will also have your own smaller fire pit and then they’ve also got a big communal fire pit so if there is a big group of you, it’s nice to sit around the big fire pit together for a BBQ, toasting marshmallows or a good old fashioned country music sing song! Don’t forget the moonshine!

Stay includes bedding, soft towel, and toilet roll, welcome pack of tea, coffee, milk, bread, butter and jam, plus logs for the fire pit. Your cabin has cooking oil and salt and pepper plus all the utensils you will need.

The Jail and General Store isn’t where the accommodation choices end though as the business is ever growing! The owners have already started work on The Church which is set to be ready for this September!!!

“We are going to start building the Church which will be a white building like the old fashioned white churches with a little bell tower on the top! That will be a slightly bigger cabin. Then we are going to have a Saloon next year! That will be like a visitors centre or if a large group of people come then they can use it as a saloon and have card tables and use of a bar.”

This entire set up isn’t even a year old yet! A project that was in mind for many years, Hank and Sarah have made their dreams come true with Hank’s Ranch and we are so thankful that they have!

It’s been a dream for many years. We wanted a lifestyle sort of business where we could have a bit of land and rent it out as camping or cabins. That was the idea for many years. We then moved up to Norfolk from Bedford and managed to find the right piece of land. We have been doing lots of tours around America and love the Wild West and all the cowboy vibes and film, Spaghetti Western. Instead of a campsite, we decided to have the cabins and do them in a ‘wild west’ theme. People are looking for something unique, quite different, something to come away to so we thought it would be a nice way to do that!”

Hank’s Ranch has been doing a pretty good job of being noticed amongst us country fans. Fans of the genre themselves and having visited Nashville, Hank and Sarah have been advertising all over country music Facebook pages gaining lots of support and interest. They have people from all walks of life stay with them, not just country music fans but people who love to stay somewhere different.

“We have had a real good following from some of the country music UK facebook pages. We have had people stay who want to stay somewhere different. We have had people that try different places such as staying on a double decker bus and a train so always tries something different. It’s open to a lot of different people.”

Currently, Hanks Ranch isn’t set for children unless you book the entire site. There are also discounts available for booking the whole site. The cabins hold two people so that in itself can make it difficult to bring kids but if you did book the whole site, you could have one adult, one child per cabin. Sarah also informed us that;

“When we build the church, we are going to make it a bit bigger so that we can have children stay. They are quite small cabins for two people. The whole site has to be booked to have children stay as people have come away for a holiday and they won’t want to be next door to children necessarily.”

Hanks Ranch is also ideal for groups to come away for celebrating a birthday or anniversary and more.

People that come say the photos don’t do it justice. When you are here you see more of the little touches that we have added! Behind where the cabins are we have an orchard which has 50 odd trees in and we have built an outdoor kitchen there! It’s all covered so it doesn’t matter what the weather is, you can go and have a BBQ. We like doing that ourselves.”

Outdoor Kitchen

There are various add ons should you choose to do so. There is a choice of a basket of hot croissants being delivered to your door with a pot of hot coffee and orange juice and more! That is an option if people want to do it. If people have been travelling and don’t want to cook when they arrive, they can also book a cooked campfire stew which can be ready for when you arrive. They will also add things like flowers and a bottle of fizz if people want to celebrate a birthday or something special.

Breakfast for Two – £15.00

Two freshly baked croissants per person.
A choice of either butter, chocolate or almond croissant with a pot of butter and homemade jam from the fruit in our orchard. Fresh orange juice and a pot of coffee delivered to your door.

Welcome Meal – £40.00

Why not order a welcome hearty cowboy stew meal for your arrival at Hanks Ranch? All ready prepared and put into your fridge for you to heat up on arrival. Sausage and bean casserole or vegan option without the sausages with fresh bread. Includes a bottle of red or white wine.

The owners property is also on site if they are needed!

As well as being the quiet get away, they aren’t exactly in isolation as there is so much to do in the surrounding areas. Check out some ideas of where to visit here.

We are about 45 minutes from the North Norfolk beaches. We’ve got Wells-next-the-Sea that has all the beautiful beach huts in all the different colours there, you have Hunstanton which is a beautiful sandy beach, Sheringham is also nice and then Sandringham and the Sandringham Estate about the same distance. There is lots to do if you came to stay here! We are about 15 minutes from Thetford Forest if anyone wanted to go dog walking or take a bike through the forest”.

People can bring dogs with them if they want to! So another place to visit and in walking distance is Boughton Fen which is a nature reserve and is literally two minutes from their doorstep so you can walk up there by the river and through the fens with your dog (or no dog) right from the ranch.

If you really wanted to make a go for it with the wild west theme then not too far from Hank’s Ranch is Sovereign Quarter Horses who do western themed days. The experiences they offer include western riding, with some western manoeuvres and learning how to lasso. Together, this with staying in Hanks Ranch makes for a wonderful western themed holiday (and here in the UK) which I know most Country Fans would love to do!

Hanks Ranch are open all year round and from September they should have The Church ready. Next year they will have the saloon and a later stage they hope to add some hot tubs. Hank is always thinking of new things to add to make your experience even better!

Hank’s Ranch have sparked interest from various media outlets including BBC Radio Norfolk.
