Chris Young – Young Love & Saturday Nights – Album Review

Chris Young today (March 22nd 2024) has released his highly anticipated ninth studio album, Young Love & Saturday Nights, via Sony Music Nashville.

Co- produced by Chris Young and Chris DeStefano and Corey Crowder, the album delivers a collection of 18 tracks that hold no fillers.

The album includes already released singles Young Love & Saturday Nights and All Dogs Go To Heaven. Fans will instantly recognise Young Love & Saturday Nights which is written by Jesse Frasure, Ashley Gorley and Josh Thompson for other reasons. The track isn’t a copy of but a fresh twist and newly written lyrics and slightly changed guitar riffs to Bowie’s track Rebel, Rebel.

There aren’t enough love songs about pets and All Dogs Go To Heaven is a sweet, heartwarming mid tempo track that also pulls at the heart strings. This song should be loved by dog lovers all over! It’s lovely to see this softer side of Young!

Amongst our favourites are;

Don’t Call Me is a stand out track which I can imagine being released as a single. It’s one of those songs that you look forward to in a live show! A great beat and catchy verse as well as chorus, it’s a potential big hit!

Another track that is pleasing to the ears is Double Down with its honky tonk sounding melody. It’s fun, engaging and upbeat and easy to dance to, what’s not to love?

Call It A Day shows a soulful side to Young’s music and voice and really showcases his incredible vocal ability. There is no denying Chris Young’s talent when you hear this song! Definitely one of the best tracks off of the album.

Fire is a great anthemic deeply rooted country sounding song! It holds elements of Brad Paisley.

Getting Older is a heart warming ballad about not being afraid of getting older and wanting be like his dad! It’s really a lovely and inspiring tune!

I love a good closer to an album and Down is certainly a good closer! It is another anthem of a song which has a strong inspirational sounding melody! It fits perfectly at the end as flows beautifully back to the beginning of the album if you have it on a loop!

Albums appear to be getting more generous with the amount of songs they are putting on them and 18 songs on Young Love & Saturday Nights album is very welcome!

Chris Young has delivered an album full of hit song after song that can easily fill an arena set list alone. A real eclectic mix of ballads, hits and up beat fun-lovin’ tunes, Young Love & Saturday Nights puts Chris Young in the running of having one of the biggest country music albums of the year!
