If you love country music, you will love Tebey.
Tebey pulls out some of the best summer anthems and brings out the best sounds in modern country music both lyrically and sonically which remind me of why I fell in love with country music in the first place. His voice is inviting and cool with a wonderful country tone.
Tebey’s has completed the release of Sink With The Sun EP today by releasing the final track Used To Love That Song.
The first track off the EP Sink With the Sun is the title track and a great way to kick off the EP.
Sink With The Sun’s melody perfectly captures that sundown feeling when you’re outside with a drink and watching the sunset on a beautiful day. The mid tempo beats, notation and instrumentation are wonderfully picturesque in the mind and you can really feel it as well as the emotion behind the really quite sad lyrics. When you hear the lyrics, it sets the scene even more because sitting out watching the sun go down is incredibly therapeutic and a wonderful place to gather your thoughts and Tebey as we said above, has managed to create that feeling in both his music and lyrics.
I guess there’s no better place than paradise to get over someone
So, I’ll stay here, feet in the sand
Drink in my hand ’til you sink with the sun
“When my co-writers and I were finally able to marry the right melody with the existing lyric we had written, we were surprised with how effortlessly it flowed,” said Tebey of his new single. “As a songwriter and producer, I strive to draw the listener in from the very first note, and I think we’ve managed to do that with ‘Sink With The Sun’.”
Used to Love That Song is the second song off the EP and is another great track with a sublime use of country sounding instruments. The mid tempo track is sweet sounding with a really infectious beat that will no doubt get you toe tapping along. Again, such painful lyrics and very relatable with that gut-wrenching feeling of nostalgia. This song has a strong traditional country sound to it that screams Grand Ole Opry live setting. The perfect song for radio, we hope to hear this song being aired all over Nashville and beyond.
Took the cover off the old rag top yesterday
Comin’ through the static, was a song on the radio
Took me by surprise, hadn’t heard it in a while
Tried to turn it down but had to change the dial
Still hurts like hell every time I hear it play
The last track from the EP is his formerly released What Was I Drinking? We interviewed Tebey about this song back in March during C2C Festival and the story behind this song, is very interesting.
“Well, have I got a story for you. So we were down in Mexico in October, my producer and one of my songwriting buddies. We were just trying to catch a different vibe, get out of Nashville and we ended up going out for dinner. This was like the second or third night that we were there. We went out and had a couple of drinks after and when I say a couple I mean like two or three, it was nothing crazy. All three of us were like automatically the next day just feeling like s***. Like horrible horrible and we weren’t hungover it was like a bug, yeah we caught something! So we did a little investigating because we were literally out of commission for like 48 hours. We did a little investigating a little research and we think it may have been the ice in our drinks.
Yeah because if they don’t use filtered water, bottled water, the Mexican water is not great, it’s not drinking water. It’s fine but if you’re not used to it you can get sick. So that is probably what it was. So when we figured that out, we emerged from our cave of sickness and in day three my buddy Jimmy goes “Dude, what were we drinking?” And that’s where it came from.
That usually doesn’t happen. There’s not usually a story like that so I have enjoyed telling that”
What Was I Drinking is such a fun song and a great way to close the EP, especially with the first two tracks being so sad. This song will lift up your spirits as, although is still about heartbreak it kind of gives you that kick to move on.
Whilst the EP is short with only three tracks on it, it is a wonderful addition to his ever growing catalogue of brilliantly crafted music. Tebey is a credit to Canadian country music and we feel so privileged that he holds such a special place in his heart for us here in the UK. That in part is of course due to him having lived here in the past but also due to the fact he adores his fanbase here so much

Sink With The Sun is a great mood setter and we have been enjoying the summer so much listening to this cranked up loud and we plan to do that for the remainder of the summer until, well until the summer Sinks with the Sun.
We can’t wait to welcome the return of Tebey this month at Nashville Meets London on August 25th and The Long Road Festival on August 26th.
Don’t miss any of it!!!!

In addition to the release of the new single, fans can also catch the music video for ‘Sink With The Sun’ which premiered exclusively on The Boot yesterday (14/7). The music video, directed by Sean Cartwright and with David Schuurman as the director of photography, was shot in beautiful Tulum, Mexico. It showcases Tebey telling a story of lost love; the song’s main character travels to a memorable place to heal, and can’t shake the memories of the woman he once loved.
“When I found out ‘Sink With The Sun’ was going to be a single, I immediately started thinking about the music video. The song’s lyrics paint a beautiful and scenic picture and I thought we could capture that essence by shooting in Tulum, Mexico. Working with Sean (Cartwright) (and David Schuurman as DOP) has been amazing. This is our third video together and he’s quickly become my go-to video director,” said Tebey.
