Country 2 Country Festival (C2C)

C2C Festival – I never get time to eat – but lots of the restaurants do takeaway

One thing that I have struggled to do every year at C2C is eat. The reasons for that being that there are too many acts I have wanted to see across various different stages and when you finally have a window, the queues are way too big to even bother and you go home on the Monday, completely worn out after a magical weekend realising all you ate was a tic tac and a squished roll you stole from the hotel breakfast bar.

This year, I plan on eating and plan on planning where to eat in advance, will that work? Who knows, things never go quite according to plan at C2C but I can at least try. So…just in case someone else is in the same position as me, I have listed some of my favourite places to eat and have also discovered during the research that some of these food outlets do take away, how did I not know this? I could have saved myself a lot of stress by ordering at one point via my phone, picking up a little later then running around like a headless chicken whilst possibly eating chicken, from stage to stage without the faff of queuing for a table and waiting for service.

Also this year, I plan on having a proper meal before the Songwriters show, probably the only chance to sit down with friends in a more relaxed environment before all the weekends festivities kick off.

Looking around I have listed places with offers on or takeaways or just yummy places.

TGI Fridays

Now this is one of my favourite places to eat on the planet. They have a good selection of food from burgers, steaks, grilled chicken, fajitas, salad, pasta and have separate allergy menus for Gluten free and lactose intolerant. Not too sure on vegetarians selection but you can get a veggie burger and veggie salad.

On a Monday through to Thursday, you can get two courses for 15.99 at O2 Arena (think it is 10.99 elsewhere) so can be a starter and a main or a main and a dessert. In general the food pricing is fair even without the offers and won’t be much cheaper anywhere else and for the good vibes and good food, so worth it!

I am sure most TGI fans will agree that one of the best things about TGI’s is the scrummy Jack Daniels glaze. I pretty much have it on everything even if not advertised as such on the menu, for example, the Mozzarella Dippers comes with Tomato and Basil sauce but I defy their rules, I rebel and simply demand Jack Daniels Glaze as it is mouth wateringly good with the dippers.

There are many a great appetiser but another one and in keeping with the theme of C2C is

Pork belly, chicken wings and sesame chicken strips all smothered in Jack Daniel’s® glaze and served on a giant tower! Serves 3-4

Another thing I love is the Jack Daniels Burger, nom nom, but I do know a lot of people love the Jack Daniels glazed chicken too which you can get in the form of a burger or classic grill.

Sweet Potato Fries at TGI’s are some of the yummiest. You can ask for these instead of regular fries but their regular fries are delicious too,

Hungry yet? I am.

If you download TGI’s App , you can get rewards, if it is your birthday, you can get free drinks or desserts for up to five friends, although I am sure terms and conditions apply.

For the non alcohol drinkers, one thing that is great about TGI’s is the free refills of Soda’s which is really useful when it’s the drinks that add up and take up a large part of the bill.

Cocktails – oh how I love the TGI Fridays cocktails. Take a look at the menu, they really do some nice ones there. These are some of my favourites.

Baileys, mint liqueur, vanilla flavor ice cream and Oreo® cookies.

Time to celebrate! Southern Comfort®blended with creme de cacao, cherry juice, vanilla flavour ice cream and sprinkles topped with whipped cream and a mini donut.

Baileys, Kahlua coffee liqueur and Stolichnaya Premium Vodka blended with vanilla flavour ice cream. Finished with a swirl of chocolate flavour sauce.

RedLeg spiced rum, raspberry liqueur, pineapple, coconut, grenadine and vanilla flavor ice cream.

Jack Daniel’s® Tennessee Honey, white cacao and Baileys blended
with toffee popcorn and vanilla flavour ice cream. Topped with popcorn and drizzled with Dulce de Leche caramel sauce.

Choose from Strawberry or Raspberry. A frozen blend of fruit, Havana Club 3 Year Old rum, fruit liqueur and lime juice.

AquaRiva Blanco tequila and strawberry liqueur with fresh strawberries, lemon & lime juices and a popping candy rim.

It is also a nice social place. You are often sat in booths and kind of don’t notice anyone around you. It has a nice atmosphere and seems to always be fast service.

Well if you don’t like chicken, then you’re plucked so probably best to avoid this place but if you do then there is no better place to go. Nando’s is self service, as in you go up to the counter and order yourself with a table number. The good thing about this, especially during events such as C2C is that you can assess the queue time and don’t have to wait for a server – obviously you need to find a table first. Nando’s, like TGI’s offer free refills on soft drinks. Nando’s have a pretty good selection and some wonderful Peri Peri sauces and you can order your chicken glaze/sauce by order of hotness.

Nando’s have burgers, half chicken, whole chicken, pasta, salads and much more.

Nando’s do TAKEWAY YAYYY and you can order online, so if can’t be bothered to move, or watching a show and know you don’t have time to sit in a restaurant then order where you are and collect later and go back to whence you came. Obviously, with Chicken it can get messy so think it through before ordering, you don’t want to be standing in the Town Square watching Danielle Brabery for example and all she can see is someone with a massive chicken in their hands making a right old mess and then hoping to go up to her after to shake her hand, ewwww. Plus, none of us wanna see the odd abandoned carcass.

Last collection for takeaway is 9.30 pm

Café Rouge

This is located outside and I always enjoy it there. It is a french restaurant which is obvious and has a great range of food again from Burgers, Steaks, Salads, Croque Monsier et Madame, Coq Au Vin, Moules and much more.

Café Rouge has always been relatively quick to get a table, likely due to people sticking to the food outlets inside but also the service has always been very quick.

Do you collect Tesco Clubcard points? If so, you can exchange these on your clubcard account for Café Rouge Vouchers, for example £5 in Clubcard points gets you £20 spend in Café Rouge, this is for food only, not drinks.

Café Rouge has a really yummy Warm Breaded Camembert starter with Cranberry and Redcurrant sauce, I always get this, so you should get this.

Pizza Express

Mostly because they do takeway and whilst carting around a pizza box is a pain in the wots it, it is pretty easy to eat and to share. Pretty self explanatory, most pizza toppings that you can think of and nice to sit in and eat at too.

Does not accept clubcard vouchers at this particular restaurant sadly.

Byron Burgers

Never eaten here yet but they have a great selection and also do takeaway which can be ordered online and also do delivery, however, I am not sure on the reality of asking them to deliver to person in cowboy hat, Zac Brown Band Tshirt, Town Square for example ha!

Some of these do look good though

6oz hamburger, Smashed Avocado, Dry Cured Bacon, Lettuce, Tomato, Red Onion and Byron Sauce

Two 6oz hamburgers, Byron™ cheese, dry cure bacon, pickles, ketchup and American mustard

6oz hamburger, green chilli, American cheese, shredded iceberg and chipotle mayonnaise

6oz hamburger, mature Cheddar, streaky bacon, crispy fried onions, shredded iceberg, pickles and smoked chilli BBQ sauce

If not for the free salad with your meal then I don’t know what else. I often crave a Harvester salad with honey and mustard dressing. Queues tend to get big during C2C but go down pretty quickly.

They do a full english breakfast here from 9am so can always stuff your face early on to take you through lunch too?

Harvester also offer takeaway woo hoo

Frankie and Benny’s

Good breakfast selection from Full English to pancakes.

Good deals Mon to Fri such as three courses for 10.99 but not many of us will have time unless planned ahead.

Good kids meals and seems relatively reasonable and lots of seating so should be fairly easy to get a table. I haven’t eaten here yet so can’t recommend anything.

Gourmet Burger Kitchen

Another burger outlet and been years since I have been but do good burgers with good choice and again, a perk during C2C…TAKEAWAY. This place always gets busy so nice to know you can order online and collect later.
