Fresh from her trip to the UK to play the C2C festival, country sensation Cam returns with her single, ‘Burning House’. Co-written with Tyler Johnson and Jeff Bhasker, the emotional ballad topped the US country chart, with over 1 million sales, Platinum status, and over 1 billion in radio airplay audience in the US. It also earned Cam her first Grammy nomination, for Best Country Solo performance.
The track ranked #1 on Rolling Stone Country’s “Best Country Songs of 2015”, and was cited among the year’s best songs on multiple lists, including Entertainment Weekly, Taste of Country, and Billboard, with praise from Perez Hilton, SPIN, The Washington Post, NPR Music, Huffington Post, Nash Country Weekly, Billboard, Rolling Stone Country, and The New York Times. The enormity of having the O2 Arena sing the words back to her at C2C wasn’t lost on Cam: “C2C was amazing! London, Dublin, Glasgow and then London again… I loved all of it! In Glasgow we went out to a pub [the Wee Pub] and it was the best whiskey and the cutest pub I’ve ever been to. In Dublin, we went out and saw awesome Irish folk music with fiddles, flutes, and guitars and that was amazing. In London, Bush Hall [Cam’s sell-out headline show the week after C2C] was incredible. Seeing fans in the UK singing the words to my songs…that was the coolest thing ever.
Earlier this year, Cam delivered a TEDx Talk for the TEDxUniversityofNevada conference in front of a live audience in Reno, Nevada. The talk is entitled “Life Can Be Tough. Music Can Help.” Initially TEDx reached out to the country singer to appear as a performer but upon learning she has worked in psychology labs at both Stanford and Berkeley universities, Cam was invited to take the speaker’s stage as well, to discuss her firsthand knowledge of the power music has on the human condition. During the conference Cam spoke about the emotional inspiration that was involved in the making of her songs, including ‘Burning House’, reiterating that “Life Can Be Tough, Music Can Help.” Watch Cam’s TEDx Talk here.
Cam is currently in the process of writing and recording her second studio album. She is also the opener for George Strait’s Las Vegas residency that runs until December 2017.
