The Shires hosted a private party for fans last night at the exclusive One Embankment treating them to a performance of new tracks from the album. It was completely rammed! Ben and Crissie wanted to thank their loyal fans for all the support so far, making them the first ever UK country band to have a hit record in the UK charts and become one of the biggest breakthrough acts of last year… The band set up a Shires photobooth so they took take a picture with every single fan who came to the show!…

The Shires debuted some of their new music during the secret show in London yesterday (July 14th) and I can say with confidence that this new album is going to amazing and certainly one that is worth pre – ordering. The new songs gave us the wonderful style we are used to from The Shires with their stunning ballads as well as a nice mix of Country Rockin tracks and fun – lovin up tempo tracks.

It seemed only yesterday that I was queueing up at The Gibson Guitar Studio in London for a secret Showcase hosted by then ‘up and coming’ UK Country Duo The Shires. A lot has happened since that night ( May 14th 2014) From a band who then had less than a handful of songs to play at their gigs, they have now sprung to UK’s most loved Country duo whose debut album Brave scored a place in the Top Ten mainstream charts, making them the first UK Country artist to do so.

The Shires have worked incredibly hard over the last two years and have not only had a successful Debut album but have also had a very busy tour schedule. In the Summer of 2015 during CMA Festival in Nashville, Tennessee, The Shires got the call that every Country Musician dreams of that they were going to have their Grand Ole Opry debut. Every big Country star from Dolly Parton to Taylor Swift have played there and to be able to perform there is one of the biggest honours in Country Music.

As well as playing The Opry, The Shires have gone on tour with America’s biggest country group Little Big Town, have toured with Sir Tom Jones, and The Corrs and they have also headlined their own tour playing venues such as Shepherds Bush Empire and this year they  Headlined Glastonbury on The Acoustic Stage.

I am surprised they have had time to come up for air. They have certainly paid their dues and have worked incredibly hard and still remain two of the nicest people in Country Music I have ever met.

The Shires have certainly put Country Music on the map in the UK and since their success other UK Country artists and friends of The Shires – Ward Thomas and Darline have also been signed to labels both of whom The Shires have toured with over the years where they co – healined with Ward Thomas and had Darline as their support act on their last tour.

With the two new acts being signed is proving that UK Country Music is starting to pave its way in the music industry and with the support from Bob Harris, other Radio 2 DJ’s and of course The Fans, I for one am excited for the future of UK Country Music.
