UK Country music trio Remember Monday have officially made it into the UK top 40 single charts with their single What The Hell Just Happened?

Today, May 23rd, What The Hell Just Happened? has reached number 31 in the UK Top 40 Single Charts. A massive congratulations to the girls on a well deserved spot! Remember Monday were this year’s UK entrant for the Eurovision Song Contest with their self penned song What The Hell Just Happened? The girls gave an exceptional performance with on point vocals and sensational harmonies. Whilst the song itself isn’t in the country music genre, their back catalogue still is and they will no doubt continue to release pop infused country music.

All hailing from Hampshire, Lauren Byrne, Holly-Anne Hull and Charlotte Steele have been a group for years now and have already had an impressive career. The girls all have a musical theatre background with Holly playing Christine Daeé in Phantom of The Opera at London’s West End, Lauren having played Cinderella and performed in shows such as Six:The Musical and Matilda and Charlotte having performed in Mary Poppins. Remember Monday also appeared on the UK version of The Voice in 2019 and featured on Jennifer Hudson’s team. The trio bravely performed their original song Jailbreaker on the show which is a rarity on The Voice.

Remember Monday have gained a massive new and worldwide fanbase since their announcement to represent the UK at this year’s Eurovision Song Contest. Their self penned song What The Hell Just Happened? was picked by the trio out of about 30 songs that they wrote in preparation for the contest. The girls toured across Europe heavily promoting their song and group and it’s safe to say that Europe fell in love with not just their music but also their personalities. The trio placed 19th on the night with an impressive scoring from the Jury Vote which included an unexpected 12 points from Italy. Sadly, the girls failed to score any points from the public vote leaving the UK with yet another nil point year. However, the jury vote gave the girls a score of 88 which meant they could leave with their heads held high.

Why did Remember Monday score no points from the public at Eurovision when people voted? If a countries song doesn’t get enough votes to feature in another countries top ten entrants on the night then they score no points. This would mean that Remember Monday weren’t in any countries top ten on the night. Many acts have gone on to achieve great success despite a nil points result at Eurovision and we expect the same for Remember Monday.

The support across the globe for the girls has been overwhelming! Many have rushed to their defence saying how they were the best of the night and had exceptional vocals. We agree, they were confident, sassy, fun, loveable but I do wish they had a better set up on the stage. There is a massive gap in the market for these girls. Musical theatre trained and Holly also being Opera trained, these girls can absolutely sing and they are also extremely likeable. All individual personalities, there is so much about them for fans to connect to.

Remember Monday are currently at Number 35 in the midweeks with their Eurovision song What The Hell Just Happened? Here’s to a hopeful top 40!
