Introducing

Audrey McGraw – ‘I Am…I Said’ – Single Review – She also joins Brandi Carlile on her European Tour.

It is so wonderful when a young artist such as Audrey McGraw revives a timeless classic like Neil Diamond’s I Am….I Said (that he released back in 1971). Music like that is hard to come by these days but artists like Diamond and songs like this will never truly die if generations continue to listen and be inspired by the classics. Audrey has brought such a stunning and bright new life to the song which will likely garner the attention of a very wide range of music lovers.

A breathtakingly beautiful voice that lays somewhere between Birdy, Brandi Carlile and Margo Timmins, Audrey’s range is really quite remarkable. Her passionate tone makes you believe and feel every word she is singing. Her piano driven version of this song is more melancholic than Diamond’s in a more dramatic way which alongside her emotive vocals, helps the listener really understand the desperation and painful loneliness behind the lyrics.

On Instagram, Audrey said “The first time I heard this song, I felt something deep in my soul,” and she proves this with her clever take on the track changing the lyrics from “Well I’m New York City born and raised” to “Well I’m Nashville born and raised” and from “New York’s home but it ain’t mine no more” to “Nashville’s home but it ain’t mine no more”.

It is such a sad song about loneliness and the feeling of being lost with no-one around you to talk to.

I am”… I said
To no one there
And no one heard at all
Not even the chair
“I am”… I cried
“I am”… said I
And I am lost and I can’t
Even say why
Leavin’ me lonely still

The youngest daughter of Tim McGraw and Faith Hill, Audrey is making her mark within the music industry on the strength of her own unique talent. We can’t wait to hear more from her.
