If there is one country artist that could make it in the mainstream music scene in the UK then that’s Morgan Wallen! The first ever country music artist to headline BST Hyde Park in London, UK, Wallen proved that country music isn’t only cool, but here to stay!

Over the years, BST Hyde Park have invited various country music acts to support headliners so it was more than time to have a country headliner, especially given how popular the country acts have been at every event. Wallen isn’t the only country act to headline this year as Shania Twain is set to headline on Sunday 7th July!

Hyde Park was filled with over 50,000 country music fans. Everywhere you looked, fans were wearing cowboy hats, cowboy boots and a crazy amount of Morgan Wallen merchandise amongst other country artists. The park was busy but not overcrowded so it was actually quite easy to run from one stage to the other which has been proven difficult in the past!

What a day!!!! I have been waiting for a country music full set up for years at BST. A more than worthy country filled line up, acts such as Zandi Holup, Alexandra Kay, Ella Langley, Ernest, Alana Springsteen, Evan Bartels, Abbie Mac, Riley Green and folk artist The Halfway Kid got the party started before Wallen played his headline set at 8.20pm.

Over on the rainbow stage Zandi Holup kicked things off with her folk country songs such as Gas Station Flowers and Dirty Wings. A stunning set with a beautiful band to accompany her, the sound of the fiddle echoed across the park beautifully! Mary Jane was wonderfully emotive and Zandi’s vocals were incredibly powerful! Zandi is sweet natured and loveable and we fell in love with her music! There’s just something about her that makes you want to listen to her all day!

The trip to BST Hyde Park was worth it alone for Alexandra Kay. An extraordinary entertainer and on the Rainbow Stage, Kay is headline worthy status and she could have easily have been on the Great Oak Stage! A powerhouse vocalist and quite simply, a lot of fun, Hay got the energy going in such an infectious way that she was hard to top! Playing songs from her album All I’ve Ever Known, it’s astonishing how she is an independent artist and not on a major label! Sadly, she went over her time and couldn’t play her last song but we were definitely thirsty for more and can’t wait for her apparent return in 2025.

Ernest brought more of a traditional country vibe to Hyde Park with songs from his album Nashville, Tennessee. Making his UK debut, Ernest owned the Great Oak stage and will undoubtedly be playing here a lot more now! A fine showman and a flawless performance, we can’t wait to see him again!

Riley Green – BST Hyde Park – Great Oak Stage –

Riley Green drew one of the largest crowds of the day and his band were sensational! Another UK debut of the day, Green played various songs from his album Way Out Here and more and brought out the exceptional Ella Langley for their duet You Look Like You Love Me. It’s a given that that duet was an absolute highlight of not just Green’s set but of the entire day! Langley is country through and through and it felt like an absolute privilege to have witnessed the pair perform that song live!

As you’d imagine, the atmosphere for Morgan Wallen was insane before his set had even begun! Never have I seen so many hardcore country music fans in one place in the UK and as a regular BST Hyde Park attendee, it was truly a beautiful scene! Wallen’s fans don’t just love him, they really love him and it showed across Hyde Park! The Gold Circle was easy going which was nice and fans got to enjoy a great view from even the very back. Filming his arrival from his backstage trailer, Wallen was bouncing his way to the main stage which got the crowd cheering and ready for one hell of a night!

General Admission were massively energetic and as soon as Morgan Wallen took to the stage the roaring crowd behind us was impressive to say the least! These fans may not have been at the front but they didn’t care, they were having the best time! Starting with Broadway Girls, Whiskey Whiskey and Ain’t That Some, Wallen was already proving why he is one of country musical biggest stars.

A T stage to walk down, Wallen bounced across every inch of his stage ensuring his fans could all catch a glimpse of him. Incredibly grateful to be there, Wallen was very engaging with the audience.

Standing in Gold Circle and right at the back, it’s ridiculous that I didn’t even notice the little stage just to the right of me! Walking amongst the crowd, but safely, Morgan made his way to the little stage at the back of Gold Circle to sing to his general admission fans which was a wonderful touch! Staying there for a fair amount of time, Wallen gave a breathtaking acoustic set which not only showcased his vocal skills but his talent as a pianist and a songwriter! As a mum, Thought You Should Know was quite the emotional masterpiece to listen to and it was flawlessly performed! The acoustic version of Lies Lies Lies which he puts out tonight went down a storm but witnessing him on the piano to play a gorgeous version of Sand In My Boots really sold him as an artist to me.

Back on the stage for the energetic Up Down, the addition of the fireworks really made the night that little bit more special. Ernest came back on stage to join Wallen for Cowgirls which was as fun and brilliant as one could imagine. Delivering a moving and humbling speech about his career and one of the first songs he ever wrote, Morgan explains how this song was one of the first times he felt he had written something good and with that he treated us with Chasing You.

Keeping the hits coming with songs such as I Had Some Help, Wallen initially closed the set with Whiskey Glasses. The crowd were never going to let it end there of course and Wallen was more than happy to play till the very last second that he could before curfew! The encore was brought by passionate demand as he returned to delight fans with Thinkin Bout Me, Last Night and The Way I Talk! Pyrotechnics galore, Wallen and his band certainly went out with a bang!!!

Morgan Wallen delivered a stellar performance which was outstanding in every way. As Morgan said himself, what a way to spend 4th July!

An explosive set, the flames, the sparks, the fireworks, every detail played their part in making what was an epic night! The energy throughout the show was an unbelievable mix of chilled out and crazy! We had the weather for it and if anyone is going to bring the sun with them to the UK then you can bet it’s a country artist. If you weren’t a Morgan Wallen fan at the start, you certainly were after! Giving it everything they had, Wallen and his band were wild, fun and quite simply brilliant!

Did country music just knock it out of the park? Out of Hyde Park? Dang straight they did! Here’s to more country music at Hyde Park and hopefully another country headliner for 2025. But who????
