As a huge fan of Paula Cole’s Where Have All The Cowboys Gone back in the 90’s, I am so glad it is having a new lease of life and in the form of a slightly reimagined classic by Lola Kirke and Kaitlin Butts. This version is stunning and stays true and respectful to the original. A fantastic collaboration and a project that looks like it was a lot of fun, I love Lola and Kaitlin’s vocals together. As Cole has expressed herself, the version has a slight swing edge to it and of course has been made more country than the pop-folk original.

We here at BOON have recently become huge fans of Kirke, her traditional country music stylings and unique vocals are wonderfully addictive to listen to and her music career is set to be a very successful one. We were completely in awe, as many were at Country 2 Country (C2C) Festival and we can’t wait to see her again at this years The Long Road Festival which will also feature Kaitlin Butts so I am sure we can expect an appearance on at least one of their sets with this song!
