Lead singer of the BBC’s Strictly Come Dancing Live Band for the last 21 seasons of the runaway hit show, Tommy Blaize is one of the most familiar voices in the country, entertaining audiences of over 12 million week in week out, every year since 2004. Now, 20 years later, he is about to embark own his first ever solo tour of the UK, playing an incredible 51 dates around the country in Spring 2024.

Tickets can be bought here

While his face may not be familiar to everyone, Tommy’s voice is etched into the consciousness of millions, as he delivers powerful and sensitive performances, live and note perfect, each Saturday night as part of the biggest TV entertainment show in the country. Tommy has been singing since the age of nine and has performed, both on stage and in the studio, with some of the biggest stars in the world, including Diana Ross, Aretha Franklin and Stevie Wonder. 2024 gives the public a chance to see him in his own carefully crafted solo shows for the very first time on this, his first ever full solo tour of the UK.

Tommy says: “I’m delighted to be able to take my show on the road for the first time, expressing myself as an artist in my own show. It will be a celebration of everything that’s happened in my career until now. Expect some Strictly, expect some soul, some blues, some of the music that inspired me as a child,I cant wait!

We first saw Tommy live in 2023 as part of The Soul Jazz Summit at Cheltenham Jazz Festival. Blaize was even more fabulous live than on Strictly. He appeared more at home on the stage with the orchestra and big band and just filled the tent with his soaring, soulful vocals.

When he got the job on the pilot for Strictly in 2004, Blaize thought it was just another job. Now along with only 3 others – Tess Daley, Anton Du Beke and Craig Revel Horwood, Tommy is one of the very rare breed who have been there from the very start of the country’s favourite Saturday night TV institution over the last two decades. He’s witnessed the highs and lows of dozens of contestants, legendary talents of both presenters and panelists who have come and gone, and TV moments that have become part of our national culture.

Blaize, of course, was a singer and performer long before Strictly, and has performed with a dazzling array of artists and world superstars of music in a near 5 decade career. As well as international stars like Stevie and Aretha, Diana Ross and The Beach Boys, the list of British superstars he has sung with includes the likes of the late great Amy Winehouse, Paloma Faith, Rod Stewart, Paul Weller and Robbie Williams, who asked Tommy to tour with him on his ‘Swings Both Ways’ tour.
A seasoned perfumer who started singing at the tender age of nine with his siblings Tony and Darrin as part of ‘The Blaize Brothers’, who toured the clubs of the North West and beyond, including his native Liverpool, he cut his cloth and paid his dues in those gigs of his youth. Stints in clubs and bars as a solo performer followed, including a seven nights a week, four shows a night run, in Ibiza over two years that provided useful training for his near 20 year run on the iconic dance show, where he learns 14 or 15 new songs every week, often of different genres, and delivers them to perfection every time, live and direct.

In 2017 Blaize released his debut album ‘Life and Soul’ on Universal containing an array of soul classics and fan favorites many which will be performed on this comprehensive nationwide tour. The album was a hit, residing in the UK Top 40 in the highly competitive run up to Xmas, and no doubt this tour will match its success, as one of the UK ’s most experienced and talented singers gives his all in this very special live show. The tour will be preceded by a series of single releases from Tommy, details to be announced shortly.
