Saturday 8th July – Gates opened at 1pm for those with early access tickets. Heavy rain pouring, this didn’t stop hardcore fans from running all the way to the main stage barriers to be as close to the action as they could for when it begun! Even outside the British Summertime Hyde Park walls, fans without tickets set up shop for the day/evening with camp chairs, blankets and picnics. Even their set up looked appealing enough to do despite only being able to hear the show and not see it!
Having fantastic support from country star Brittney Spencer, James Bay, The Chicks and more across the park, Springsteen started what was to be a three hour set promptly at 7pm.
The build up was thrilling! Watching each member of The E Street Band enter the stage and receive their own deserved loud cheer was exhilarating. Little Steven’s (Steven Van Zandt) entrance was brilliant and dramatic and the crowd knew then that The Boss himself was next!
It almost didn’t feel real when Springsteen arrived on stage. For many, this was a moment of a lifetime! Being the first time seeing him in concert, for me, the moment was somewhat indescribable! That was exactly how you should make an entrance!
Starting with My Love Will Not Let You Down it was incredible to be amongst a sea of fans who were on cloud 9 even if that cloud was pouring down with rain. A minor thing that no one cared about! This is Bruce Springsteen and The E Street Band, we would all stand in waist high puddles just to see them!
A set list to boast about seeing live, they performed a total of 28 tracks, all of which were songs the fans knew each and every word to.
The crowd was packed but the Diamond Circle was respectful and safe with a fantastic view from wherever you stood! Watching Bruce spend so much time amongst the fans in the front row was humbling and his interactions with children in the audience was wonderfully sweet!

Mary’s Place was a stand out and celebratory moment as the on and off rain poured down during the song. The chants of “let it rain, let it rain” were more meaningful and genuine!
The most emotional part of the night was of course Last Man Standing! With The E Street Band off stage for the track apart from Barry Danelian on Trumpet, Bruce talks of his start on his career. A beautiful story of joining his sister boyfriends band when he was just 15, he shares how that band, The Castilles lasted three years and for teenagers, that’s a lifetime!
The song was written in memory of his band member George Theiss as he was the band member that left Springsteen to be the last man standing. He talked of being by his bedside in his final days and of memories of his wedding before he was even 19. This was a rare moment of silence when he played Last Man Standing. People were told to hush if they weren’t being respectful and it was a truly beautiful moment!
Because The Night (Patti Smith Group cover although written by Springsteen alongside side Patti Smith) was highly energetic with the crowd chanting in unison. There were so many moments like this including NighShift (Commodores cover) that just made everyone come together as one! The beauty of live music.
Each song played was next level and even the lesser known tracks were that to be celebrated! Of course, the hit songs were the ones to make the crowd go even wilder, that was a given! Born To Run was brilliantly vibrant and Dancing In The Dark was an unbelievably powerful performance and energy wise!
Acoustic performance of I’ll See You In My Dreams to close, fans can now tick one dream off their bucket list.
The energy he and The E Street Band had was incredible to witness and that energy flowed into the crowd! The level of talent on that stage was insane! What an absolute privilege to be there! No one plays to perfection quite like they do. Each member, a master of their craft and a band that bounce off each other so beautifully!
The relationship and banter Springsteen and Little Steven have was like watching two cheeky young boys ! Making jokes about the time hyde park pulled the plug on them, they mocked at the camera close up which was very funny!
A mind- blowing, out of this world show – a Bruce Springsteen and The E Street Band concert isn’t just a concert, it’s an experience! It’s a lifetime memory that you will tell your grandchildren about, a moment us with small children now, who will probably grow up to not believe that we were ever cool enough to go to!
The old boys do it best! Who will the legends be when they leave us?
