British Summertime (BST Hyde Park)

BST Hyde Park: VIP HydeAway – What Is It Like? What Is There? and Is It Worth It?

BST Hyde Park is one of the largest events the UK has for live music across the summer. Extremely popular, these events tend to sell out and some of them sell out very fast! (Ticket Types here)

Deciding what type of tickets to buy can be quite daunting and many times people buy general and decide to upgrade later which I believe you can should there be availability.

One area that many are curious about is the VIP HydeAway! If you have purchased a Gold Circle ticket, you have the option to buy them with or without the HydeAway and the ticket price difference (Artist depending) can be quite different! (Diamond VIP is usually access to VIP Summer Garden which we haven’t yet experienced).

So what is the VIP HydeAway all about? What is it? What does The VIP include and is it worth it?

Again, much like I have said in my Gold Circle article here, it depends on your personal preference and your budget!

The website states the VIP HydeAway to include;

Gain entry to the event up to one hour before the main entrance opens to General Admission customers

Enjoy access to the VIP HydeAway – an exclusive area offering a private bar, additional comfortable seating and separate toilet facilities

Watch Great Oak stage performances from the exclusive Gold Circle standing viewing area, which allows you to leave and return from the Gold Circle area into general admission as you wish (More on Gold Circle in our article here)

Access to an extensive range of bars, food traders and toilets in the main arena

So all of the above is exactly the information you need.

How would we describe it though?

TOILETS!!!! I am all about having better bathroom facilities and the HydeAway toilets are so much nicer – so for me, that alone makes it worth it!! These toilets are in portacabins and have separate cubicles. The cabins have proper sinks, soap, hand dryers and a mirror! So none of the typical festival toilet portaloo’s that you can’t/won’t want to breathe in and have no room to move in and let’s face it, some festivals toilets become so vile that you opt to hold it in (if you can)

The queues are a lot shorter too, however as the day/evening gets busier, you will find yourselves in long queues even at these HydeAway toilets because the HydeAway holds a large capacity of people! Not so large that you are pushing to get through!

What I really enjoy about the HydeAway is being there earlier in the day and relaxing at a table (or sofa, bean bag as previous years have had) and enjoying a drink and chatting with friends! (The seating area tends to change each year but there are plenty of seats etc)

There are various areas that offer shade (hard to come by at BST Hyde Park) and of course there are separate bars and food vendors.

The bars again go from no queue to large queues as the day/evening goes on! There is more than one bar! This year there are three shaded bars in the hydeaway all with tables and chairs. Most tables have umbrellas but not all!!!

The food options vary each year but usually have Pizza, Falafel, Vegan Vendor, Burgers etc! It just won’t be as much as you can get in the main arena area but hey, you can still visit those anyway!

The HydeAway is close to The Great Oak Stage (main stage) in fact right behind it and the entrance is right by the Birdcage stage (the bandstand) . Your entrance to the event with this ticket will be literally to the side of the VIP entrance and is the closest entrance to the main stage! So with that in mind, if you have Hydeaway you should be able to gain entrance at the South Entrance (see map) and is a much shorter walk to get as close as you can to the main stage.

It’s also the closest entrance to Hyde Park Corner Tube Station and a 20 minute walk from Green Park tube station and 25 minute walk from Victoria Station.

There is usually a merchandise stand at this entrance too which is often less busy! There are no merchandise stands inside the VIP HydeAway!

Please check out our photos (throughout the article) of this years HydeAway (2023).

Any questions please leave a comment and I will do my best to answer or maybe even other people can join in the conversation to help answer from their experiences too!

Thank you!
