Stories Behind The Songs: The Wandering Hearts on the song Wild Silence

The UK’s newest and most promising, high rising vocal group The Wandering Hearts are really starting to make their mark in the music industry and are captivating and “wowing” music lovers everywhere. Their sensational debut album Wild Silence is full of gratifyingly good , epic tracks which deliver some if the strongest vocal harmonies going which even challenge the likes of Fleetwood Mac, Abba and Little Big Town.

We are so fascinated by the album Wild Silence that we asked The Wandering Hearts to select a song and to tell us the story/creation process behind it. The band chose title track Wild Silence and we loved what they had to say about it and hope you do too.

ARTIST: THE WANDERING HEARTS

SONG: WILD SILENCE

When we sang together for the first time, it was like we were in each other’s heads. We had this connection we couldn’t explain – like a magnet pulling us together – and ‘Wild Silence’ is about exactly that.

We wrote the song early in the band’s life. We didn’t really know each other that well but we knew we had this weird and wonderful closeness, even if we didn’t really understand it. People say that when we sing together, it sounds like we must be related, as siblings often have voices that blend together like ours. The opening line: “it’s in my head, it’s in my blood” is about that almost visceral connection to one another.

‘Wild Silence’ is also about taking risks for what you love. We met almost by chance and everything changed for us. The lyric: “we could break our bones on the rocks below, if we never jump, we’ll never know” says it all.

Being in a band is exhilarating and crazy and daunting and unpredictable. We’re all so happy that this fate, this ‘Wild Silence’, brought us together.

Lyrics

“Wild Silence”

It’s in my head, it’s in my blood
I’ve never felt anything this much
Something in the way you make me float
Feels like I’m not made to let this go
I look up, you look down
Our hearts are the sirens that keep calling up
All we know is here and now
This wild silence is our only sound

Whoa, whoa
Our hearts are the sirens that keep calling up
Whoa, whoa
This wild silence is our only sound

All of the words we left unsaid
I can’t pretend, I’ll just forget
We could break our bones on the rocks below
If we never jump, we’ll never know

I look up, you look down
Our hearts are the sirens that keep calling up
All we know is here and now
This wild silence is our only sound

Whoa, whoa
Our hearts are the sirens that keep calling up
Whoa, whoa
This wild silence is our only sound

It’s bringing me down
Don’t let me turn around
Whoa

I look up, you look down
Our hearts are the sirens that keep calling up
All we know is here and now
This wild silence is our only sound

I look up, you look down
Our hearts are the sirens that keep calling up
All we know is here and now
This wild silence is our only sound

Whoa, whoa
Our hearts are the sirens that keep calling up
Whoa, whoa
This wild silence is our only sound
