Country Music Week was such a wonderful week – even if you were only able to attend one show it still felt like you were a part of the entire week just by reading all the updates by fans and artists a like. Levi Hummon was somewhat the heart of the festival. Playing various shows across the week such as the Bluebird, Daytime Hub and New Country US , Levi was an instant draw – he dazzled his audience with his charm, stories and talent and certainly gained an even bigger crowd that week than he had before.
I caught Levi as part of the Saturday Daytime Hub. Levi filled the venue with music from his much loved self titled EP including his hit single Don’t Waste The Night. The audience were also treated with his new single Stupid which was released during Country Music Week and fans were so eager that they had already learned the words by this show to which Levi seemed incredibly shocked and proud all at once. Levi was joined on stage by his legendary father Marcus Hummon who is one of Nashville’s finest songwriters and is responsible for songs such as Cowboy Take Me Away and Bless The Broken Road to name a couple. Levi lent his stage to his father to take over to sing his original version of Cowboy Take Me Away to which Levi joined in – this version of the song, not too different from the Dixie Chicks version was fantastic and went down a treat, I for one always love hearing the songwriters sing their songs so this was a very special moment indeed.
I know that I am not alone when I say that I love Levi and hope he returns to the U.K. soon.
