The live music sounds of Noah Kahan were just what we needed on a Friday night after a week of work. He is probably what a lot of people needed in that moment. Kahan is known for his songs about mental health and self-discovery so there was a lot of love and gratitude already in the crowds from 2pm when the gates opened. Kahan’s fanbase is more than just a bunch of fans gathering together for a show, they are a community, a solid one and the atmosphere felt friendly, approachable, safe!
With a stellar line up across three stages which included Maya Lane, Kevin Atwater, Hazlett, Finneas, Gracie Abrams and more, the anticipation had been building after every set played.
A 65,000 strong crowd, if you stood to the side of the stage and looked back, it seemed like the crowds were endless, I can only imagine what that must have looked like to Kahan.
Kicking off with All My Love, the crowd erupted into song and the energy on and off stage was high. Kahan is sweet – no ego, excitable like a big kid he explains how it is the biggest gig of his life. So very grateful to his fans, you know that Kahan means it, and this show was all about celebrating his fans, not just a big pay check but a night to have fun together. Somehow Kahan can make a 65,000 crowd feel like 100. The way he addresses his fans feels so intimate and you forget your surroundings.

Early on the set he invited Gracie Abrams back on stage to perform Everywhere, Everything which of course, was one of the highlights of the night. The collaborations didn’t stop there as he later in the set brought out Gigi Perez for Call Your Mum and Lewis Capaldi for Northern Attitude in the encore. Call Your Mum gave us goosebumps as his own mum was on the viewing platform standing and looking around the crowd emotional as a proud mum would be.
The night was full fan favourites, old songs, new songs and deep cuts. One new song in particular that stood out was Deny, Deny, Deny. Upon playing False Confidence he made a joke that he had informed security that if anyone didn’t know the words, they would get escorted out. It was fascinating to turn around and just witness all the people singing along and feeling so free.
Fans at the back of the gold circle and the front of general admission got to enjoy Kahan close up on the B Stage for acoustic versions of Pain Is Cold Water, Maine and Strawberry Wine. Being that close was something we will unlikely experience again and Kahan mentioned how he never thought he would get to the point that he would be big enough to have a B stage. There were a few occasions of which he would say he never really believed he deserved his success but is just starting to. Of course he deserves it, and that crowd proved it.

Back to the main stage for a generous number of tracks which included two of the already mention guests, no-one wanted the night to end and I think even Noah would have played all night if was allowed. Closing the night with Stick Season of course, Kahan can go home proudly after headlining BST Hyde Park where he undoubtedly belonged. Noah Kahan, gives us a lot to love – not just his music but his overall personality.
There was so much passion from both everyone on stage and in the crowd. We got completely lost in the performance. We cried, we laughed, we sang and celebrated with our neighbours. Noah Kahan’s set was magical, it was powerful, it was emotional, it was wonderfully therapeutic and an absolute phenomenal experience. We will ever recover?
