UK Country Singer/Songwriter Maya Lane is making quite the name for herself in the music industry and 2025 is proving to be her year. Having played support shows with Breland last month, Lane also featured on the Glastonbury line up, a dream even some of most established musicians haven’t yet had the privilege of playing. As well as Glastonbury, Lane is included in the small line up for the very much adored, BST Hyde Park supporting Noah Kahan, where we find ourselves today. Very eager to catch her set, Maya Lane opened up the festival performing on The Birdcage Stage. Opening an event can be quite the challenge as many event-goers are still yet to arrive – However, Lane pulled in an impressive amount of people. In fact, the biggest crowd I have seen at the Birdcage Stage yet so early on.
Starting with her current single Bitter, there were some definite hardcore Maya Lane fans in the crowd singing along and getting all excited. Just Maya, her guitar and her one man band Jack who played guitar, bass, drums and vocals, the pair delivered a fun, engaging and sonically beautiful set. Maya was afraid no-one would turn up but by the amount of people she attracted, it won’t be long before we see her on bigger stages.
Lane played her next single I Don’t Know You Yet which she battled with her team as she didn’t think it should be released but they did, by the crowd reaction, her team made the right choice. Lane is such a joy on stage with a naturally funny personality. She shared the fun story behind Guys Like You about a guy in Nashville who wouldn’t stop talking about himself. The song has some very funny tongue in cheek lyrics and, what is it about guys who say they are 6 ft when they aren’t? Don’t lie to Maya, she’s 5’9 so knows.
Her cover of Fleetwood Mac’s The Chain was a stunning version and she had the whole crowd singing along.
Past single Heart for a Heart was a massive hit, as it should be as is clearly one of her best tracks and needs so much more recognition.
Explaining she had Hyde Park on her vision board alongside Noah Kahan after seeing Stevie Nicks here last year, she can’t believe her dream came true.
Maya ended with her song Beyond Alaska and the set really was over too soon. Maya Lane is set for the big time, her maturity in her music is astonishing, her vocals are beautiful and inviting and her live performance makes you want to see her again and again. On that note, she will be playing at The Grace in London on September 3rd. With so many other songs to share, this will be an amazing show so make sure you get your tickets. Tickets available here
Having released her album Diary of an Overthinker in 2024, Lane has released a string of singles in 2025 which include her current single Bitter. Wise beyond her years, this maturity shows across Lane’s music and you wouldn’t expect her to be in her early 20’s.
