Angel White is fast becoming a favourite of ours here at Building Our Own Nashville. Having been blown away since his performance at C2C Festival in 2024, we have been absolutely hooked and we were delighted to have him return for BST Hyde Park.

Bringing his signature western soul music to BST Hyde Park supporting Zach Bryan, Angel White took to the bandstand Birdcage Stage at 16.30 pm. Met by a handsome crowd, White grabbed the attention of various passer by’s who were stopped in their tracks and joined the audience for what was a truly unforgettable set.

An acoustic set of just Angel White and his guitar, the stripped back versions of White’s music took on a stunning new form which was intimate, powerfully raw, and emotionally resonant, revealing the soul of his artistry at its purest.

White’s ‘Western Soul’ music holds much emotional depth and is cinematic and timeless. His vocals bring an authenticity that breathes life into every story he tells through his songs. Red Blanket is a good example. A song so close to his heart, he always delivers on this song live. White started his set with this song and it was as if he was backed by a whole band – that’s the power it holds. It is a deeply moving track where he reflects on the passing of his grandmother, to whom he was very close. It captures both personal grief and heartfelt love with haunting beauty as he sings about the Red Blanket she once gave him that he still very much treasures.

sometimes an outlaw is just a broken hearted cowboy – don’t let it fool ya”White said before performing Outlaw. A wonderfully catchy track in the best way, the song was well received by the audience. On the harmonica to play 2733 he asked if anyone had a matching tattoo. One of his best tracks, live it was something else!

White played a fair amount of new tracks but the audience were more than happy to sample his new music. Listening to the new tracks such as Red Handed was a wonderful and exciting sneak peak on what to expect from his next album.

Angel White’s debut album Ghost of The West is a soulful, vulnerable and authentic debut and places him, in our opinion, as one of the most exciting and refreshing artists to emerge in music for a while. We can’t wait to see what’s next. Angel White needs a bigger stage next time please.

If there is one artist that people will talk about in the highest regards after the event closes, then it will likely be Angel White.

Ghost of The West is out now via Wyatt Road Records. Listen here.
