
Rising UK country pop singer-songwriter, Chanel Yates has recently been announced to perform at Reading & Leeds Festival, taking place August 21 – 24 2025.
A festival which was once known as ‘Reading Rock’ before the partnership with Leeds, has become more of a mixed genre festival over the years. This year, Yates will be playing at Reading on Friday 22nd August and Leeds on Saturday 23rd August alongside artists such as Chappell Roan, Hozier, Lola Young, Bloc Party, The Kooks and Alessi Rose.
Yates, who will be playing on the BBC Introducing stage, shared of the announcement, “The Big Girl Boots are well and truly on!! I couldn’t be more excited to bring country music to Leeds and Reading Festival this year! It’s been a bucket list moment for me for as long as I can remember, and the fact I get to represent country on that stage is huge. Let’s make it the biggest sea of cowboy hats L&R has ever seen. WHAT A DREAM!!!”
Yates is bound to be a hit amongst festival goers especially with her catchy country-pop track Big Girl Boots which has seen her attract a very large fanbase since its release. The track, gives the leading artists in the US a run for their money with its catchy chorus, excellent production, fun, relatable lyrics and Yates’ superb vocals.
Chanel most recently released her latest single ‘Shotgun Seat’ on May 30th which has already received over 300k streams and received airplay on BBC Radio 1. The official visualiser is available to view here. The song, much like Big Girl Boots has a catchy way about it and screams of a country radio hit.
In addition to the studio version, Yates released ‘Big Girl Boots (Live)’ which was recorded at Platoon studios in London. She also released a string of original songs in 2024, including ‘Cowboy For Christmas’, which received a play on BBC Radio 1’s ‘Future Pop’, ‘Studio Apartment’ and ‘Friend From Work’.
Yates recently wrapped her support run on Alexandra Kay’s ‘All I’ve Ever Known’ UK and Ireland tour last month and made her debut at C2C: Country to Country Festival in London and Glasgow in March.
