Nocturne Live is a series of concerts that are held at the picturesque grounds of Blenheim Palace every summer in Oxfordshire. This year, we set off to The Corrs whom were supported by Australian singer/songwriter and legend Natalie Imbruglia and UK Country-pop trio Remember Monday.
The Corrs should need no introduction. A sibling band hailing from Dundalk, Ireland, the band have sold over 40 million albums worldwide since their 1995 debut album Forgiven Not Forgotten. It was the album Talk On Corners however, that most people were introduced to Caroline, Andrea, Sharon and Jim. That album saw the band reach high charting success gaining a number one spot in the album charts and high chart positions with the singles What Can I Do?, So Young, I Never Loved You Anyway, Only When I Sleep and a cover of Fleetwood Mac’s Dreams.

A beautiful blend of traditional Celtic music with a pop rock twist and an element of country, The Corrs last album was released in 2017 and titled Jupiter Calling.
The Corrs are the perfect headliner for a stunning setting such as Blenheim Palace. An all seated show, the event is somewhat of a special occasion and makes you feel as if you have been invited to an exclusive event. The Stage is set amongst the courtyard of Blenheim Palace allowing guests to take in the beauty of the 300 year old estate.

Caroline on stage first, warming up the crowd, Sharon, Andrea and Jim then joined with the rest of the band and performed Only When I Sleep. The energy was already insane from the first song. Hardcore Corrs fans were all over the palace grounds and fans who didn’t have tickets could even be seen from across the lake.
Of course, the highly energised and fun sing-a-long moments came from songs such as What Can I Do, Dreams, So Young, Queen of Hollywood and I Never Loved You Anyway. The latter had a great introduction from Andrea explaining that writing a list of what you don’t like about your ex will make you realise you never really love them anyway. Andrea’s vocals throughout the show were on point with the odd raw tone which stemmed from how passionate she is as a vocalist.

Many emotional moments came from songs such as Ellis Island, and of course Runaway. Andrea allows the crowd to take the lead on a lot on Runaway due to being overwhelmed with emotions on how loved the song really is. Listening to the crowd and in fact being part of that crowd singing along felt quite magical. The Corrs had everyone feeling Breathless after singing every word loudly and proudly to a string of their hits towards the end of the show. Returning for an encore of Breathless and a traditional cover song, the entire show just went too fast and they just have too many good songs to be able to fit them in an hour and a half’s set. However, no one was disappointed.
What you don’t necessarily get from listening to The Corrs on record is just how talented they are as musicians. Sharon’s fiddle playing created a breathtaking sound that pierced the air beautifully. Many moments of instrumental heaven showcasing their Irish, traditional celtic side was absolutely divine.

The set list had the perfect balance of hit songs and album tracks. The Corrs and their band played to perfection throughout the evening creating an unbelievable atmosphere which was full of nostalgia
