O’Donnell Moonshine Review – Our Favourite Flavours So Far! Look out for Black Friday and Christmas Deals

O’Donnell Moonshine are very popular amongst the country music fans! Sponsors of The Long Road Festival and having their own stall there, many of the festival attendees tested various flavours across the weekend during the August Bank Holiday.

What is Moonshine?
Taken from their website they say;

O’Donnell Moonshine is where tradition meets a new world of taste. Just like gangsters of the American Prohibition, we bottle our liqueur in stylish preserving jars known as Mason Jars. ‘Moonshine’ is the illegally distilled alcohol of the era, and our name derives from the leader of one of the most notorious Moonshine gangs in Chicago; Mr Spike O’Donnell.”

As someone who isn’t a massive drinker myself, (in fact I am incredibly fussy with drinks in general) the flavours were always going to be hit or miss for me! However, when my husband ordered the Very Cherry, I tasted it and instantly became a fan so decided to try some more flavours.

Very Cherry is definitely my favourite – nothing has topped that for me. Mix it with Coca Cola and you’re basically drinking a Cherry Coke (oh that can get dangerous haha!) As I have stated above, I am not a big drinker, my taste buds can’t actually handle a lot of overpowering drinks but Very Cherry was just about perfect and very delicious! It’s easy to down glass after glass so just be wary it’s still alcoholic!

Another fast favourite was Wild Berry! I am a berry fan in my drinks! My go to drink in a pub is a fruity cider so the berry moonshine’s are right up my street. The Wild Berry I mixed as suggested, with lemonade and it was beautiful! I really wish all pubs and restaurants would supply O’Donnell Moonshine.

One that I wasn’t massively keen on was the Blood Orange. Mixing it with Tonic Water, it was just a bit too bitter for me. It wasn’t disgusting and would definitely be enjoyable to others, especially those who like Tonic Water (I don’t particularly) not a Gin And Tonic fan either!

Make it all Christmasy by adding Tough Nut, Macadamia or Sticky Toffee to Hot Chocolate! Yum, Yum, Yum!!!!! It’s basically like getting a regular flavoured hot chocolate. Again, dangerously addictive but absolutely delicious and what a lovely wintery warm drink or nightcap to have, especially if child free for an evening. I would usually go for a mulled wine as an evening treat with friends around this time of year but I think we may go for a moonshine hot chocolate before our Christmas gatherings this year!

Check out the hot chocolate recipe here (it’s very easy) simply pour the moonshine (40ml or one small bottle shot) into the already made hot chocolate.

The O’Donnell website has various recipes for mixing including cocktails. Check out the cocktail page here.

Look out for Black Friday and Christmas offers as these make lovely gifts. I will personally be buying some for my husband (whilst secretly hoping I can drink most of it).

Black Friday deals start at 10am on Friday November 24th, don’t miss them!!!! Click here
