Carrie Underwood released her deluxe version of her album Denim & Rhinestones on September 22nd.
Co-produced by David Garcia and Underwood, the collection features six new tracks – five brand new songs and a special live version of She Don’t Know, recorded LIVE from Underwood’s 43-city arena tour, “The Denim & Rhinestones Tour”.
Carrie Underwood never disappoints with any music that she puts out! Her voice alone can sell any record to me as her distinctive, powerful vocals are just so familiar, in a sense of them being like a close friend.
Denim and Rhinestones Deluxe stays in keeping with the Carrie everyone fell in love with from the very beginning of her career.
These deluxe songs all have that ‘live in an arena’ sound, in particular Out Of That Truck and Give Her That. Out Of That Truck, is a fun, energetic, sing-a-long anthem! The chorus is so exciting and beautifully delivered!
Give Her That is wonderfully atmospheric which you can really imagine translating beautifully live. You can feel the music – it’s as if I am front and centre of a Carrie concert (if I close my eyes).
Drunk and Hungover although not being penned by Underwood, is classic Carrie in her beautiful ballad stylings. Carrie is always such a great storyteller when she sings and the passion and emotion in her voice adds to those already gripping songs.
Damage has more of a pop feel to it and is another anthemic tune, something Carrie excels in. Carrie always gives her all in her songs and this song is very vocally strong! The energy in her voice is incredible.
Take Me Out is a sweet sounding country tune with a really simple yet lovely guitar picking intro which flows beautifully into a gorgeous melodic and rhythmic chorus. In fact, the smooth rhythm of the whole song is addictive to listen to, so much so that I have this song on repeat. A cinematic feel, it reminds me a little of Midland and early Kacey Musgraves with a Texan country twist. It also has a Every Breath You Take feel to its melody, not in a rip off way but in that kind of styling.
Closing with a live song was a great move. A very country sounding song, She Don’t Know is a great cheatin’ song which Carrie is Queen of singing. Her vocals have that great way of delivering an angry, revenge and “over it” feel. Much like Before He Cheats in its “moved on” kind of way, this song is just as fun but with a more dark sound a bit like Two Black Cadillacs. This is one of the more traditional country sounding songs of Carries.
Here’s to hoping we get the Denim and Rhinestones Tour in the UK soon!
