In front of a select invite list of industry insiders McConnell performed five tracks from his latest album Secondhand Smoke at an intimate showcase in London. Secondhand Smoke is McConnell’s thirteenth album, a prolific catalogue for the 34 year-old, originally from Massachusetts and now a resident of Nashville.
The day before he supported Ashley McBride for her London show McConnell showed why he is such an acclaimed songwriter. The tracks he performed from the album were the title track plus Shaky Bridges, Rest My Head, I Don’t Want To Know and Greetings from Niagara Falls.
Sharing a strong connection with his audience McConnell captivated with his plaintive and soulful voice and strong material.
For the last track he stepped in away from the microphone and unplugged his guitar to sing about his family and about love. Powerful stuff. One to watch.
