Artist: Frankie Davies

Song: High on Love

I wrote High On Love when I was in a very imaginative mood. I had the title rolling around my mind for a while and I initially wanted it to be a normal relatable story of unrequited love but as many of my songs do, it turned a different corner when I started writing it, and became the extreme version of what I had intended.

The story became one of an optimist, conjuring up a connection that wasn’t there in the first place, misreading gestures of kindness for ones of affection. I wanted to highlight that it’s so easy to run away with our ideas of love and being high on that ideal blurs the line of what is real.

High On Love was the first song I wrote for the album, it has a humour and energy that represents who I am as an artist and a performer and it made complete sense for it to be the first single and track on the album.

Lyrics:

I’ve been waiting Waiting for your call all morning
‘Cause we had a good time
Dancing high on love

I’ve been watching Watching you while you work
Here where I first saw you
Oh i’m high on love

Oh you don’t seem to remember me
Oh but I though we were meant to be
Together, not just in dreams

Love, love, love I’m high on love, I’m high on love
I’m high on love that ain’t real

I’ve been waiting Waiting for you after work
To see if you remember me
And oh, I’m high on love

Oh you don’t seem to remember me
Oh but I thought we were meant to be
Together, not just in dreams

Love, love, love I’m high on love, I’m high on love
I’m high on love that ain’t real

I’ve been watching,
watching your every move
I know that I’m being weird
and oh i’m high on love

Oh you don’t seem to remember me
Oh but I though we were meant to be
Together, not just in dreams

I been waiting But you never really noticed me
I’m hurt but I guess I’m fine I was only high on

Love, love, love I’m high on love,
I’m high on love
I’m high on love that ain’t real
