Margo Price was an artist a lot of people were excited to see on the main stage of the O2 Arena. Having a very strong following, this was a special moment for her and her fans who knew her worth and how wonderful it was going to be for people to see just how good of a live act she is.
Margo had already built a whole new fan base in the UK after playing at last years Glastonbury where her set was even televised. I had personally never seen Margo live so this was going to be a very new experience for me.
Margo came on stage dressed in a white suit and matching cowboy hat and was accompanied by a full band.
Margo began her set with Don’t Say It to a full arena, most of who, were standing up and were having a great time. Margo was impressive live and had very strong vocals as well as a wonderful stage presence, she certainly looked and played as if she belonged which of course she did and does.
Margo’s band were exceptional musicians and filled the arena with their talent. My only criticism would be that it was a more of mellow show after having a crazy time with Midland. However, I perked up as soon as she brought one of my favourite artists out Lukas Nelson to perform Learning To Loose with her which his father Willie Nelson sings in the record version. Margo and Lukas’ voice really complimented each other and it was fantastic to see Lukas on the main stage where he belongs. The crowd went absolutely crazy for the pair and they brought the energy up a notch or two.
I do not know Margo’s music at all but enjoyed it all, there was no bad song and Margo is a highly talented woman to watch especially when she went and played on the extra drum set at the back of the stage and had somewhat of a drumming battle with her drummer on his set of drums. That moment brought a great atmosphere to the crowd as everyone cheered them on throughout.
Margo closed her set with a cover of Creedence Clearwater Revivals – Proud Mary to which she brought Lukas Nelson out again much to my delight, good move Margo, good move.
Her closing number was very energetic and left a good feeling amongst the crowd.
